My wife always shovels our walkway and porch. She says it's good exercise...we hire someone to plow our driveway otherwise she would probably be shoveling that also. On the down side she wears boots and a coat when she's shoveling.

I don't know if this is the same for Belarus, but in Ukraine, the superstition is if you go out without a hat you'll get a cold. If you have a wet head you'll get a cold. If you open a window, regardless of the weather, you'll get a cold. I highly doubt anyone with a Ukrainian wife could get her to shovel snow in anything but a giant coat, boots, and a hat.

The trick is to use google chrome's "incognito window"...it doesn't save any cookies, history, etc...

You sound just like my Fiancee actually. I'm actually rather surprised by some of the stuff guys share on VJ. If Mila saw me write ANYTHING about our personal life that involved her, I would be dead. For her, her private life belongs to her, and if she wants it shared she will do it herself. And I respect her enough to follow her wishes.

I'm also probably a very rare animal in RUB, cause I was completely content to live a normal American life with an American girl, but was set up by a friend from school (I went to a Russian Orthodox Seminary for 4 years, and still work there now) with the most wonderful girl I've ever met. I've never had a problem with American girls, this one just happened to come along and be the right one for me.

I guess I'm really just writing this to try and show that not all RUBers are the same. We don't all parade our wives around in high heels (Mila doesn't seem to wear them much) and talk about how we make them dance around naked for us. But then again, I don't really believe that the guys that say that really have wives that would do it for them either. I think it's said mostly in jest to rile people up.

Looks like I missed all the fun. A couple points I wanted to make...

James, I'm not pissed at all the RUBers. I'm immune to it at this point pretty much. Honestly, I was disappointed by your posts on the subject. From your other postings in P&R, I took you as "different" from the other RUBers, but maybe I was wrong.

As for the whole foreign vs. American women, domestication vs. domination business...really, for those of you who think it's a competition, I hate to burst your bubble. What you do with your life matters not to me in the slightest. What pisses me off is that these misogynistic attitudes still exist and I hope I don't come across a man who has them and blocks MY plans for success, as measured by me.

Not sure what you are assuming here. How does anything I said imply I would block any of my spouses plans/dreams for success??!! I am only too ready to see my fiancee find the career success here she dreams of. She may use her math/engineering degree she already has or she may go back to the university here for something else! That decision is hers to make and I will support it 100%! I don't need her income but I do need her to find the happiness in life that comes from career success. Sorry for the confusion, my last paragraph was not addressing you in particular, but the pervasive attitude of many RUBers regarding women's roles. I'm glad you disagree.
