Hi,

So I have this big problem and I need your help. I was traveling to my home country, Brazil and I lost my passport and my green card, when I was in between conections, from LA to Atlanta. When I was ready to board to Brazil I realized I didn't have my green card or passport with me. They let me travel just with my brazillian ID. I have the hope I'll still find it but in case I don't. Do you guys know if I can use my travel document(advance parole) that they gave me before I got the green card to go back to US? I never had to use the advance parole document because I got my green card before I ever needed to use. Do you know if it is still valid? And if it is possible to do that?

Thank you.

if you have a valid advance parole then yes you can use that. Also you can obtain a travel document from the consulate in Brazil but you seemed to be all set for entry to the USA.

No, you cannot use AP once you have been given LPR status. Many people go their interviews and get approved and mention they have a trip coming up soon. The IO never says "just use your AP" they either offer to stamp passport or say the GC will be at their house in time.

OP: I would contact your consulate and see about getting some other type of temporary travel document or maybe they can stamp your passport with the I-551 stamp. Whatever the answer is, they will know how to help you get the correct documents. Good luck.

And yes, file a police report :)

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

You probably meant Re-entry permit and not advance parole. Advance parole is only to be used while the AOS is being processed - re-entry you get when you already have a GC and if you're going to be outside the US 1 year or more.
