Travel while I-751 is pending

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum. I submitted I-751 (waiver) last September and did bio in October. I have been waiting for over six months. I did info pass on Jan 31st and the lady told me the case is still pending (mostly because of name check since I changed my name)

My father has been asking me to visit him in my home country and help him with his business. I have been putting it off thinking that I should wait until the case is approved and then leave. But it has been quite some time and in fact, I heard that it might take years! So I'm planning to visit my home country and stay there for about 5-6 months (no more than 6). If during this time, my I-751 is approved and they send out my 10-year GC, but I'm not in the US, would this be a problem? Especially at the airport when I enter the US?

My one-year extension will expire in December this year. I plan to travel out of country from April-August.

Also, what if my I-751 is denied while I'm not in the US, would that be a problem when I return? Would the immigration deny my entry?

This is what the 1 year extension letter is for. The letter does not spontaneously become invalid the moment they cut a new green-card. Some visit USCIS and request their conserns and the field office has been known to stamp passport with I-551 stamp, allowing the passport to serve as a green-card.

However, you never know if your trip will get cut short for a possible interview.
