We're doing DCF from within Canada. I'm a dual citizen (US/Canadian) currently living in Canada (with my Canadian wife, who is applying for the visa/green-card).

We just received packet 3 in the mail, and it seems as if we only have to mail in the DS-230 part 1 & 2, plus the checklist (i.e. saying that we HAVE the documents), but not actually sending in the other documents.

Does this sound right, or do we have to include any other things along with the DS-230 when we send it in the mail (e.g. I-864 form, marriage certificate, passport photos, proof of domicile, etc etc) ?

That's exactly what was required from us for DCF in London, UK.

All the certficates, I-864 etc. needed to be presented in person on the day of the interview.

However, do the instructions you received say to return both Part I and Part II of the DS-230?

I'm asking because we only had to return Part I with the checklist, and part II had to be returned at the interview NOT signed. Then the ConOff conducting the interview would ask you to take the oath of truth and sign Part II in front of them.

But your Consulate may have different requirements.

Hi esplette,

We are at the same stage as you, and ours just says to mail in Part 1 & 2 along with the checklist. I wasn't sure how long it would take to get my police clearance, but I got it the same morning as I went in to the station, so I now have everything they need. I just actually have to fill out the form now, LOL

Hello, I have exactly the same question, viz. what needs to be returned to Montreal in response to packet 3.

Unfortunately I am a little slow so I am having a hard time understanding the couple of Canadian responses from LuvIllinois and Norah. When you say you sent the checklist in, do you mean you sent only the checklist (i.e. a sheet of paper, signed, indicating you had all the required documents)? Or do you mean you sent (or intend to send) photocopies of everything required on the checklist?

Any clarification on this from the two Canadian dcf people who already posted, or any other Canadian dcf case, would be much appreciated.

I have another question regarding this. Do you HAVE to send the documents to Montreal via DHL? Or does Canada Post suffice? The reason I ask is because my husband lives in a small town. It would take him about two hours to get to the closest DHL office. We would really appreciate a quick answer regarding this!

I just sent in the checklist, not the actual documents listed on that checklist as some of them I didn't even have yet, like my Medical (which states clearly not to obtain until I receive Package 4) and my appointment since I don't have that yet either. Then I sent in Part 1 signed, Part 2 unsigned, my photos and a photocopy of my passport.

As far as DHL, I'm pretty sure you have to use it. This is the only thing I found, but it's directly off of the CSC Visa info site:

I made a mistake choosing my DHL courier pickup location. I want to pick up my personal documents from a different DHL courier pickup location than the one that I originally chose. How do I change that?

You can change your DHL courier pickup location by logging into the system using the passport number, date of birth, and nationality of the applicant applying for the visa. It is very important that you use the same information used to create the account under which the appointment was booked.

Once logged in, you will be directed to an applicant summary page. Please choose Reschedule Appointment and step through the pages until you reach the Choose DHL Branch page. Make the change and click submit. Once you've done that you may log back out.

Changes to the DHL courier location pickup must be made before the cancel/reschedule deadline on your appointment confirmation page. Changes to the DHL courier location after that date and time will not result in the desired routing.

You can follow the good advice that you got already, OR you can do what I did which is to send in everything except for the photos and something else. It didn't cause any problems. They have them on record and are holding onto them. We didn't need them before our interview so it all is going to work out fine.

yes, we only sent the check list saying what we had. I would think that you could sent them in by mail, which you will pay for, dhl is their bill. But I don't see why you couldn't just send them. But you will have to get your passports back from them through the dhl location you select. Or anything else that they might need to send.
