What Should I Expect

DA,

I have recently sent off my I-134 (Affidavit of Support) to the US Embassy along with my passport and relevant evidence.

I didn't complete it before my interview at the London Embassy in July due to some really rather excruciating mix-up. However, the rest of the interview went OK and I was told that I was 'all set' pending the I-134 being OK and that I would receive the passport with the visa '10 to 15 days' after I sent the paperwork in.

We're reasonably confident that we meet the criteria, etc and we provided reams of evidence for this. I sent the paperwork to the Embassy on Saturday and it arrived there two days ago.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm getting nervous and I'd just like to know what the process is, really. Do they call you and tell you? Does the courrier just turn up and say 'look what you've got!'? Is the visa put inside the passport? Is '10-15 days' quite accurate?

(Can you tell I'm nervous about it?)

Any advice is appreciated!

Many thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark,

Im not sure how long it will take for them to complete this but 15 days sounds about right, AS LONG AS there are no issues with the Affidavit of Support and Evidence.

No they dont call you, you can however call the embassy. A courier will turn up and present you with the visa.

Using the visa helpline number?

What does the visa look like? Is it added to your passport?

Visa helpline number in London is 09042-450-100 and costs 1.20gbp or more a minute. Of course you spend the first 3 minutes listening to the options! Anyway it's open Monday through Friday, between 8.00 am and 8:00 pm, and Saturday, between 09.00 am and 4.00 pm.

I found it best to call around 4pm weekdays, I usually got through quite quickly. They won't really tell you much, well they wouldn't in my case, but can be reassuring that they have everything /are processing it.

On one occassion they told me to send an email and gave me a code to put in the subject line so that the email would be responded to.

My visa was added to a full page in my passport and looks like the photo page of my passport. Includes obviously name, photo, application info and various numbers.

My passport was returned 2 days after my interview by the Embassy courier company, who despite what they said did not notify me before they arrived. I mention that because I noticed in their small print if you are not there when they deliver it you have to pay again to have it re-delivered!

Good Luck!
