What? how did I miss this area? Lol Oh well glad I never have to do it again but sad that this area was unseen to me. Maybe its new.

We have interview next month at Montreal. We are planning to keep a big paper envelope having all papers, wallet and cell phone.

1. Do their security people keep wallet and cell phone or we need to leave at hotel?

2. Is any small woman's handbag allowed?

Just wondering, what can we take with us except a big paper envelope.

I had a small purse(a little smaller than a fanny pack) when I went, they put it in the Xray machine AND dumped it out all over the desk. Took forever for them to clean up my change and stuff that I had in it, If I had known I would of left it in the hotel and just brought my wallet itself. It was a pain.

No cellphones no large bags/messenger bags or backpacks. I kept my papers in a small accordion folder so it was easy to access the papers I needed from it.

HAHAH! I was there in Feb '10 and I didnt see a play area either. I didnt have my daughter with me though, and was really focusing on not puking on the floor from nerves!

When I was there I had a wallet on a string, and a large open top "reuseable shopping bag" type of bag with my visa stuff in it.

Outside at the door the guard made me just open it and he just moved the folders so he could see in a little.

Then they swabbed and xrayed everything and sent me through the metal detector.

Pack light if you can, and limit your metal.

It makes things so much easier and smoother.

[i didnt see a play area either, but I was more focused on where the heck the bathroom was! =D]

I had my Interview on Thursday in Montreal!

My husband and I arrived outside the doors at 6:30, and we were first in line. They opened their doors at 7:30. By the way, dress warm. My husband and I had jackets and hoods, and pajamas under our jeans but, standing outside for an hour froze our feet to death! Oh my gosh! There was a line formed behind us by 7am (Only a few families) but by 7:15, it was up to 20 people!

They ask for your appointment letter and BOTH of your passports when you go in, so have them in hand! (The officer at the door was impatient with some people behind me!)

You'll step up a few stairs and an officer will tell you to take everything out of your pockets and place it in a wooden box. Your jackets/gloves/hats go into a plastic container. Anything else just gets shoved through the conveyor belt. I did NOT bring my purse. I brought a plastic grocery shopping bag that held my huge X-Ray and medical, and a file folder with everything I need. People at the door were being refused who carried backpacks. I did see women with small purses (10" by 15" bags) but they went a bit slower through the door process.

We got letter A! We took all our things back and headed down the stairs to wait for an officer to take us up into the offices. We were told to wait in the middle area in front of the Play Area. (Yes, there was one!) One of the first 5 families up there had a girl, so we watched her play!

They called us up once for the fingerprints and the yellow envelope, then sent us back. Called us up again for confirmation of the NVC paperwork's information then went to sit down again.

Third time up we went into the small interview office. They asked the year we were married, where my husband lived, where I lived, how much he made, how long of a drive it was from each other, if I have ever been refused at the border, and he asked a question about the US Visit Visa I was on before. (How long I had stayed when I was in on it)

He scanned my left index finger, and then... Congratulations! He said I passed and Welcome to the United States!

I instantly began to cry I was so happy. I had to ask again; "..Really?!" My husband didn't cry since there was too much people around! (But I saw him teary!)

I think the hardest part of the WHOLE morning, was freezing to death outside. Each officer got nicer and nicer as we went through the people inside. The Interviewer we had was probably the nicest guy I met in Montreal.

Just tell the truth and everything will go fine!
