"Budrus" is a documentary about a village in the West Bank, where residents succeeded in saving their land from being seized and annexed by Israel for The Wall.

In 2004, the residents of the village of Budrus resisted non-violently for 10 months against the building of the Israeli annexation wall on their lands. Israeli peace and human rights activists also joined in the protests. All participants faced brutal repression from the Israeli army, including live fire, and some of the protesters were arrested and imprisoned.

In the end, the villagers successfully managed to get the wall rerouted, and saved about 95% of their lands.

The film documents a very effective Palestinian popular struggle which united men and women, Israelis and Palestinians, and all Palestinian political parties. As the film shows, the participation of the village women was a crucial factor in the success of the protest.

It's well worth your time if you get the chance to see it.
