In almost every case, it is "self imposed poverty".

Ignoring this, fact and subsidizing the root causes are the root of the chronically poor.

However, today, anyone can fall into poverty because of the poor employment outlook, simply getting laid off can rapidly destroy the average person who has leveraged themselves too much with car loans credit cards and second mortgages. (again they shoulder some responsibility for their situation).

First of all, I call bullsh!t. You said that you didn't say it, you did. Secondly, your example as you put it is a pathetic one as AJ pointed out. See most intelligent people in that example you gave would have either gone to their union, or formed one. Despite what Beck and whatever talking head you worship tells you, unions aren't these evil groups set to perpetuate voter fraud and socialist propaganda.

Ever notice when we as a country wage war against some concept, we lose miserably? War on Drugs? War on Terror? War on Poverty? War on Hunger?
