I need to get I-693 done for my adjustment of status. Few of my friends went through AOS last year and they all used the same doctor (we all live close to each other). They had to visit the office three times and it took them a month to get the complete and sealed envelope. They all had to come back a month after a first visit to get one more shot and that's when they recveived their complete I-693.

I called couple other offices here and they told me they actually need me to come back 48-72 hrs after the first visit to have the TB checked and if all is OK I will get the I-693 then. Big difference between 2-3 days and one month! Any idea why this one office requires people to come back after one month?

How long did you have to wait for your complete and sealed I-693? (given that you did not need to get additional x-rays for TB)

Thank you!

Some shots have a required wait period between the next shot and the next after that. So they have to wait to get the shots. Only when the shots are complete can they finish the papers and seal them.

As I did not need a medical and I had my Xray from Sydney I had to go and get a flu shot and my 693 was done the next day. I returned the form of flu shot same day and they had it ready for me the next.

The first doctor in your scenario is doing it wrong. If multiple shots are required to develop immunity, the first shot should be given, and then there is a place for the doctor to mark "insufficient time between intervals" on your I-693 and give it to you all sealed and ready to go. You should still go back and get your subsequent shot for your own health, but the I-693 can be completed before then. It should take a few days to get the medical (time to get syphilis labs and check your TB results, assuming everything is negative). Good luck.

AOS for my husband

Thank you all!

Harpa, I think you're right! My friend actually checked his record and they made him come back for another shot of varicella/chicken pox vaccination. Now, when I called other doctors' offices they asked me about chicken pox and it seemed it was sufficient for them when I just told them - yes I had it. Anyway, now I know I can send whatever I get after they check my TB and should be good.

I had all my medical done in less than 1 week. Yes, I went to the civil surgeon twice because he had to follow up on my TB test and blood work administered on my first visit. Everything was soo easy as he knew what he was doing. I didn't receive any other shots from him and I didn't have to do anything else.
