Not usually without the green card.

You mean the mortgage/deed? if you already have one in place you may have to refinance to get her name on it. But would need her green card and, most places wont if they have no credit.

You would need to refinance the loan, which is not really an easy inexpensive thing to do. And mostly not possible if the property happens to be upside down in value alot. She would probably need her green card too.

Hello,

I refinanced last year 2.84% for 3 years for $495.00. Was at 5.1%. At the end of the 3rd year I can lock it in for $495.00 again at 4.84%. I added my wife to the loan papers. We sent them to China she signed at the Consulate in Guangzhou in front of a notary. She sent them back that was all. I did not add her to the title as that would be a little more paper work. The state I live in is 1 of 5 where dower rights are still counted. So she had to be on the loan. I wanted her on the loan for proof of relationship and more evidence of co-mingling of assets. Mostly everything through email accept her returning the docs at her signature was required.

WOW, 2,84%...too bad you couldn't lock that in for the duration. I just refinanced and locked in 3.75. When I mentioned adding my wife it was going to raise my rate (she has no credit score so that raised it), and they could not do it in SC without a SSN...they did not care about a GC. It seems this topic is similar to adding someone to a bank account...very state-specific.
