SSD benefits are not much, so I can easily see that someone who gets $1-1.5K a month in SSD (not enough to meet their monthly expenses) might want to supplement their income by working a cash job (a few hours a week) rather than get a full time job that would pay >$2K, but they can't physically handle it.

To be fair the US system is not gamed as much as the UK one, there we are talking serious issues.

But I do seem to know a lot of people who are on SS Disability. I do not know what it pays, but enough that they are interested in cash only jobs. I am sure there are people who are on SSD who do not work, all the ones I know do.

She is, was mentioned elsewhere.

Parents failed to file birth, guy is 95, a WW2 vet and apparently just recently discovered he isn't a US citizen...........but hey rules are rules so kick him out, F*ing freeloader.

Did you bother reading the article?

He is a dual US/Canadian Citizen, many on this site are.

The issue seems to be his parents never registered his birth in the US.

A rare case, indeed.

I recently dealt with a hypothetical case like that. Just for kicks, somebody ask me what would happen if a guy from Canada in his 40s, 50s, or 60s, would claim to be a US citizen, based on being born in the US. Parents lived on a remote farm in Podunk Holler, Nebraska, Next neighbor an eternity away. Born at home with the help of a long deceased midwife. Home schooled. Perhaps a cup or two short in the brains department. Never got a job, stayed on the farm. No siblings, parents long dead. How can he prove that he's a US citizen?

I told him, the prove is up to him. He would have to submit evidence to the fact; it's not the Department of State's job to do it for him.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Did I bother reading the article? Why would you ask this? Are you doing it to be a jerk? (Clearly you are)

Anyway, he officially isn't anything as he has no paperwork to prove it, though clearly they are working things out for him.

It finished:

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service says it will expedite the process because of his age.

You suggested:

I would favour USCIS approach rather than yours.

That would be sarcasm my dear friend. Sorry I realize now you were being serious in your question and not a jerk.
