Case Status on USCIS website

We got our first NOA with a priority date (don't know what that means) of January 10, 2011. I tried checking on our case status on the USCIS website but it says that the number doesn't exist. I checked to make sure that I had the right number. Is this typical and how long does it take for us to be able to check on the status.

I know some of you are much further down in the process and I salut you because this waiting thing is a huge challenge both for me and my husband!!!

Alot of couples that filed anywhere from end of Oct till present doesn't work..i have called twice they told me both times anywhere from one month until maybe never because there has been errors in entering the info or they just don't have to put your case online:( what is important is your paper noa 1..so keep it ..its only proof you have they got it:) Good luck on your journey!!

Alot of couples that filed anywhere from end of Oct till present doesn't work..i have called twice they told me both times anywhere from one month until maybe never because there has been errors in entering the info or they just don't have to put your case online:( what is important is your paper noa 1..so keep it ..its only proof you have they got it:) Good luck on your journey!!

It means your case is not online. This can be corrected .. you should call USCIS at the number on the notice of action and speak with the agent... YOU SHOULD.. YOU MUST speak with someone else so ask a supervisor then let the person know that you're unable to check your case status and so would like to be able to do it online so you dont have to call in and as part of their commitment. Ask that they send an email to the service center where your case was transferred.

At the same time.. just checked USCIS's website and it is current down for maintenance so who knows your case might just be available after this update.

The USCIS website is worthless and isn't worth worrying about. it is arbituary at the best. You have a NOA 1 so you have between 4 and 6 months of waiting now...just spend the time reading posts about what to be prepared for when you receive your NOA2 and don't worry so much about that website.

your very welcome..the site is down ..so maybe they're updating and putting in all our files...:) I tried emailing and pleading for them to put online and talked to a supervisor to put online also..but it didn't help..but i'm happy for the person it did..:)
