Anything appropriate. They should not make judgement just because your clothing, because that is against the law. Wear something makes u look clean and neat. Advise not to wear too many jewelry

Really? I've never heard of that particular law. As far as I know, they can "make judgment" based on anything they like. The law gives them that discretion.

Dress as you would for a job interview.

why?

yes, dress like for an interview or other way said "Business casual" - you don't need to have a pants suit, wear a silk blouse or a cocktail dress.... my wife wore a simple blouse and cardigan, slacks and regular dress shoes to our interview.

Across from us sat a couple in dark jeans, t-shirts, he with partially buzzed hair and she with bangs and electric pink streaks in her hair .....

Still, wouldn't wear any seductive or club-wear giggle....

You'll be fine - Viel Glueck!!

I wore a dress with sheer stockings and flats. Wear something you're comfortable in that's not too revealing or too casual. At my AOS interview there was a couple who came in, the wife was wearing faded jeans an orange hoodie and flip-flops (no joke). The husband on the other hand was better dressed than her... I don't know how the interview went, but if i was the IO i wouldn't think they were serious about the interview. Good Luck on your interview!!!

I recommend that you dress professionally.... like your husband wears a shirt and tie, and you dress with a nice blouse or skirt. "People you know as well as I do that people judge you by how you look RATHER IT'S RIGHT OR NOT."

Show them you take this thing very seriously, well that's my 2 cents,...

As many said --dress appropriately and conservative . Sometimes the consular officers make judjement calls on your personality and your mode of dress. Best of luck .

Ok, then if that the case, you will be denied for the "not looking too good" reason? Where is the freedom of expression? And u expect a Muslim woman to wear western dress? OR do you expect a MONK to wear PANTS and tie? Of course they have the power to judge and decide the approval or not. Like i said, dress APPROPRIATE, something that makes they feel feel comfortable so do the interviewees.People sometime judge others on how they look, but DO NOT judge the book by looking its cover. For some odd reasons that IF u were my employee and u make your decision on people for how they look based on your personal interests and hold them back from their own benefits then i can be sure with you that you'll be fired a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time ago. Eating pizza doesn't make me a American, but my certificate does, and wearing that blue dress doesn't make you Vietnamese but your wife.

You said it was against the law for them to judge you based on what you wear. I challenged that statement. I don't believe any such law exists, and I'm certain there is no such clause in immigration law.

People do judge you based on how you look. A USCIS immigration officer is no different. If a couple shows up for an AOS interview, and the girl is dressed like a hooker and the guy is dressed like a punk, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the chances of a Stokes interview went up a couple of notches.

Nothing in the world would make me Vietnamese. Not the blue ao dai. Not the VN wife. Not even if I became a citizen of Vietnam.

Please refrain from making off-topic type of comments in the immigration forums. The OP asked for practical advice for a realistic situation, not a lecture about should and should nots. To the OP - business casual is the most appropriate dress to wear for an interview. Choose something that makes you feel comfortable within that style of dress. Good luck at the interview.
