Just a vent on my part. I went on Saturday with my sister to try on my wedding gown. The best part is that it was too big!!! This makes every bride to-be happy

The dress is beautiful, very old fashioned looking with a beautiful detachable train. I LOVE IT!!!!

But the fitting was bitter sweet. As I looked at myself in the mirror and other customers awwwweed and complimented, I felt sad knowing I have no idea when our wedding day will be. I never thought that this would be the feelings I would experience on the day that I try on my wedding gown. So, my sister took pictures of me in my dress so I can email them to my mom. My mother found my Grandmother's wedding dress (my father's mother whom I never met) and I cried when the dress maker told me she will be honored to sew in fabric from her dress into mine. This is such a wonderful, beautiful time of every woman's life and the Immigration cloud hangs over me.

I can't wait for the day that we are together for good. With bands that will unite us. I will kick off those wedding shoes and dance all night. Every day will be a celebration when we are together.

God Bless all of you that are going through this with me. And thank you for all of your support and most importantly, your understanding.

Bridgett

And when I read your title I though you never had any dress before. :D

Anyway great news. Good going. We can make ourselves happy by doing these small things while USCIS does a big thing to approve us.

Don't we all totally understand! At least you know that you will one day enjoy that dress, and you will think back to this very day and smile knowing that you made it through the mumbo jumbo immigration process, and all the blood, sweat and tears were worth it. I agree, VJ is a great support community!

Good luck on the rest of your process! *hugs*

Congratulations on finding the right dress. I know when I bought mine - and I wasn't originally planning on wearing a wedding dress but just found the absolute perfect one on sale - even though we didn't have a date or an idea of 'when' yet, still, it felt like something had moved forward and become more definite. It felt like I had something I could do while waiting for immigration to get around to approving our applications and that I had a little bit of 'control' back. Sure, it may all have been an illusion, but every bit helped - and I got great pleasure from looking at that dress hanging in the closet - waiting along with me for that special day.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Same here........got my wedding gown too, actually got everything except for the white underwear.

And the date........We will put our I 129 in on November1st and then hopefully my son and I can go to the USA on the K1 in May......

But I will see my Sweetheart in exactly two weeks from today as we couldn't take it any longer and I simply booked a flight and will be there for 4 weeks.

I'm just so scared of October 12th when I have to leave him AGAIN..........This time I'm even taking our dog with me to Germany since my hubby to be has to go to school in CA and after that will start his new job being a Truck Driver who's home only a week out of the month......

So Doggie comes with me.

But oh well we all just have to hang in there.
