I just joined and I am asking for your insights because the cheapest and shortest trip we are considering has only 1.5 hrs layover time til our next connecting flight and it's in SFO. Knowing we are 1st time Immigrants, can we make it to the next flight? I am worried coz I have my kid with me plus they told me aside from falling in line in Immigration Office, I have to check out our luggages and check it in again at Customs, will we going to make it in 1.5hrs? :( I am afraid we might miss the next flight, we are taking the continental airlines, is it true that once we get the insurance there would be no rebooking fee already? your insights will be highly appreciated. Thank you so much!

1.5 hours is probably not enough with a child, rechecking in the bags and immigration. 2 / 2.5 is better.

Even if you don't pay rebooking fees with the way flights are overloaded you could be stuck at the airport for days. I was leaving Dallas last year during bad weather and they were telling people it would be 3-5 days before they could get on a flight and it wasn't a holiday weekend.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

What is the POE? SFO? I would say no that is not enough time. My wife had her POE in Guam and had 3 1/2 hour layover there and customs in Hawaii with a 4 hour layover there. She had just enough time to do immigration and customs in each spot....with a POE in SFO or LAX...they would have to do customs and immigration there...I would say at least 4 hour layover there if not longer would be needed.
