The problem is that you never know when a Service Center is about to go off the deep end. 5 one day, then 15 the next day, then 18 , then 2 is an average of 10 and would get the backlog down.

But the number can go to zero at any time without any warning and stay that way for months on end. It happened before and can happen again. That is the problem when the numbers suddenly drop.

Six a day does not get rid of the backlog. It keeps it from getting worse, but it doesn't make it any better.

So at six per day, the backlog stays where it is now, 6 to 7 months. That was why I labeled it as fair but not good.

In order to get the backlog back down to 5 months (where they claim it is now but are quite full of bunk), they need to do at least 10 a day, every day. That would be good.

And to get it to where it used to be back when the system actually worked well, they would need more like 20 a day. That would be great.

I can not ask you to have the same expectations as the next person. The truth is, Vermont has gotten themselves in a biG hole that only big steps can get them out. While the other guys are content with Vermont's current sign of life , as oppose to the last few months, you just expect more...That's not a crime. Infact, I too would like to see this five months thing abolished.

Just a gentle reminder, everyone, that while sarcasm may help you feel better, it does not have the same effect on the community at large, so please keep your sarcastic responses to yourself (or your emails to VSC) and do not inflict them upon other members who are just as stressed and upset and lacking their usual resilience as you are. You can complain about the situation but please do not direct your frustration and ire at other posters.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You mean like posting simply to tell people that thier thread is pointless? Oh and to tell them that they should stop whining?

You are right though thank you for stepping in.

I agree 100%, just because say someone like me or Al422 has higher expectations doesnt mean we are "unrealistic" or "whining" or the any of the other adjectives used, it simply means we refuse to accept the status quo.

How else does the world move forward and become a better place unless we dont accept those things that are unacceptable. I am astonished by how people have gotten to such an arogent and self centered place where refusing to accept somehting you find unacceptable makes you a "complainer".

I appologize that I am not content that i paid $450 to be aloud to ask for permission to apply for a visa, to be aloud to bring my wife to live with me, and that I also have to wait in excess of 5 months for something that takes someone 5-10 minutes to look at. Yup im just totally unrealistic that i expect things to run a little more effieciently then a pile of (blank)

Now that it seems clear that we are only getting 2 approvals on this day, I realized that as much as I hated the Bush man in the oval office, one thing I have to give him credit for is how well he had USCIS running.

In 2004, the first time I did this, I got my NOA2 in one month, and the lady had her Moscow interview date 2 months after that. And they were issuing visas 2 to 4 days after the interviews.

That was a well run office, the way it should be run now. But like most of Obamination's other undertakings, he attempts vast things with half vast (say it quickly) ideas.

And look at the result: What result? I don't know. I'm still waiting for mine. Under Bush, she would have had her visa in her pocket over a month ago. Now under Obamination, we are not even close to completing the first step.

How much longer will this go on, Mr. President who already has his wife with him every night while mine is exiled in Russia because of him?

Can I change my vote to McCain?

I am by no means an Obama suporter but I dont understand why the president get 90% of the blame for 90% of the things he has no contorl over. I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt even know about USCIS. When will americans learn that thier presidents are more scapegoats then decision makers. We have a boat load of congress people and senators who affect our daily lives way more yet somehow the president is first to take flack, whether obama or bush or whoever. Do you really think Bush had some plan for USCIS that was better then the current? Or that Obama has a plan that is crappier then the last? Come on its not up to them. These institutions have thier own directors and managment.

Its more of a smaller budget then anyhting else, taxes keep going down but people want all these thigns to function better well they wont if we underfund everything. I dont blame USCIS or the President or Congress I blame the people who live in this country and pretend to be Americans and pretend to care what happens when all they really care about is themselves. People elect mayors, senators, reps, presidents, everyone of these people who dont do thier job we allow them to not do thier jobs. America is just a country full of hypocrites, just read through this thread and youll find a few.

Obamination appointed the USCIS director and can fire him at will. He chooses not to.

He signed the Help Haiti act with zero thought as to where the resources to help the Haitians would come from, and it all came from the adjudicator resources needed to move our petitions.

He appointed Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security, and she was the rocket scientist who held our petitions up for four months while the TPS stuff was shoved in line ahead of us.

President Harry Truman had a sign on his desk: "The buck stops here". It still stops on that desk in the Oval Office. So no, Obamination is not a scapegoat. He is the man in charge. He is in charge of what goes right and what goes wrong. And lately, not much has gone right.

Are you listening, Mr President? One month processing under Bush. Seven months under you. When you campaigned for change, is this what you had in mind?

All I have to say is many members of congress are calling for smaller government and budget cuts which is only going to strain resources even more. It's not always the president's fault, some of it is the situation that the country is currently in. I'm not defending Obama or USCIS, but I do have to say smaller government isn't always better.

Your statement is not based on facts, at all.

Processing times have nothing to do with the president now, nor have they ever. Processing times vary for many other reasons, and the times vary during each presidential term as well.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

But Vermont has never been this bad, ever. Vermont usually runs about 2 months, sometimes 3 or 4. But 7? Never, until now.

as of now just to receive NOA2 it takes as long as all your journey towards K1. Maybe this can give insight to "oldies" why people are so frustrated with the process...

That doesn't answer my question.

My original point was that processing times change often. Things are slow at VSC and fast at CSC, then things pick up at VSC and slow down at CSC. This is the way it always has been and always will be. I've seen people's journey last years, and some last months. Soon, CSC will be the slow one, then it will switch again. There is no pattern other than the one I have outlined here.
