Hello,

I have been following the posts on VJ for the past 5 months, i.e. since we filed our k1 in September. I finally decided it was time to register and make an account. I have two questions for people who have interviewed at either the Delhi embassy or any consulate in India.

I recently read that somebody was denied a k1 at the Delhi embassy. They were given form 221g and one of the requirements was having a Indian voter id card. I do not have one made. Is this something that is now mandatory for the beneficiaries from India? Also will having a letter of approval from both set of parents help make the case stronger? Thanks in advance.

Regards,

K and A

This is normal for Delhi Embassy to issue 221g at the time of K1 visa interview.

Now, they are also issuing same form for IR1 and CR1 visa interviews.

Due to high fraud for K1 visa, Embassy is very strict about fraud cases... and normal caess also go through the same strictness.

There are couple of cases that denied K1 and they went for marriage and followed I130 / CR1 path.

Thanks Deep2009. Also, if all other evidence is present will lack of voter id card result in getting a 221g? I will be having my interview at M umbai consulate.I wasn't aware that the voter id card was a essential document. I submitted my application for voter id today and was told it will be ready by July. I am assuming I will have my interview way before that. I am hoping you can help me out here. Thanks.

This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV
