I agree with Paul on this. Ban smoking in public buildings? Sure. Ban smoking within a certain distance of public buildings? Sure. But once all outdoor space is banned then yes a line is crossed. And Paul, they HAVE started banning smoking in homes (multifamily).

Also, Wilson made a point. Reasonably, in an open space, regular city pollutants are far more harmful than any possible secondary smoke that may occur. Has the city even bothered to do a study of outdoor smoke effects using weather models etc?

I like the way they hide behind the "health" excuse.

I know a lady who who tried to run the same BS past me when we had a conversation about this.

I reminded her, her kid being overweight was of way more concern than him smelling a cigaret in the park.

Truth of it is...

I dislike the smell of cigaret smoke too, when smokers (including the M.I.L.) come to my house I tell em to smoke in the garage or on the back porch, if someone should light-up in the house, it's not

a big deal really.

It's actually way less offensive when you are around it on a regular basis

if my wife smoked I wouldn't be bothered at all, it's just I am not around smokers much any more

and so I notice it more when I am.
