what does "touched" means?

It means someone took a look at your file that day, your file was transfered from desk to desk, your file was handled. Everytime your file is handled, they log it in, which shows touched when you log in with your case number.

It means someone did something with your file. In my opinion it means nothing as far as how quickly your case will be processed. Our case was never touched since USCIS received until it was approved 5 months later which was the estimated time. But, I suppose it is good to get a "touch" while waiting. You know they have your file (it is not lost somewhere).

Oh forgot - the date changes on the online system. This is considered a "touch".
