Would you ask the same question about muslim groups?

I'll take that as a "no" then.

Charles you don't learn, you don't discuss - in the absence of which you bait and throw insults. And then complain when people do the same to you. Business as usual eh? Instead of answering a simple question directly (which is all I asked), you use it as an excuse not only to flame me and attack me for my views but to hijack the thread.

Nice going.

The worst atrocities are perpetrated in the name of god. Whether it be allah the merciful or jesus son of god or ram or krishan or any of the sikh gurus... all acts of terror committed in the name of a god are acts that are morally justified; they consider such atrocities as being pleasing to that god they follow... proves what I have believed for a long time now... god fosters hate... god condones the destruction and genocide of those who do not follow him/her... there are many religions... if there is a god... whose god is the right god... and how do you know that?

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

Wars have been fought in the name of peace also. So peace must also foster hate and therefore be bad. Acts of terror have been committed in the name of freedom. So freedom fosters hate and therefore is bad.

god condones the destruction and genocide of those who do not follow him/her...

Because a few knuckleheads (okay a few million knuckleheads) kill in the name of God, that means God condones it? John Hinckley shot President Reagan in the name of his love for Jodie Foster. Do you think Jodie Condoned that? (Alright, don't answer that)

there are many religions... if there is a god... whose god is the right god...

Ironically for the sake of the current conflicts it's really the same God. (Don't really know anything about Hindus, and Budha is not considered a God) There are many religions- that is true. How you know what the correct way to worship God is, well that's kind of a mystery. I'm not sure there is a wrong way to do it unless part of the way you do it is by killing people.

It was probably Israelis pretending to be Christians trying to scare any more Africans away from Christianity.

My thoughts exactly.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Actually you're baiting yourself - the question is a no-brainer to me.

Any fundamentalist committing violent acts in the name of religion is far from an ideal representative of that religion. Clearly.

Why did I ask it? Because I wonder why it is some people seem to have this unreasoning prejudice against Islam (and its followers) for being the root cause of fundamentalist behaviour, when clearly there are similar groups acting in the name of other religions.

Simply, condemning the faith of islamic extremists while questioning that of christian extremists strikes me as a bit of a double standard. I'm sure you'll disagree.

Uganda begins ceasefire with LRA A ceasefire between Uganda's government and the Lord's Resistance Army rebels has come into force.

Which Lord? Lord Krishna? Lord Vishnu?

Lord Voldemort

Or maybe Lord Ganesha. Not sure yet.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Sorry if I wander off on a tangent, or this post doesn't make sense at all....I'm on massive quantities of antibiotics and Vicodin at the moment. Hence my previous post of "Lord Ganesha".....he's dancing around my head at the moment. He's not pink, though.

IMO, ANY religion fosters hate, war, murder, and destruction. Ditto for any ideal. Religion serves to separate people. So do "special interests". It's just the way it is. Peace will never occur in this world unless everyone becomes the same...boring....identical.

Personally, I blame all Abrahamic religions for most of the war on the planet. Yes, the Norse, and many other pre-Christian cultures, were a bloody group. They didn't kill people for their religion though....they warred on people to gain their lands or resources.

Since the introduction of the Abrahamic religions, there has been more bloodshed over ideals/religion/"stupid #######" than at any other time in history. Personally, I'm tired of it and wouldn't be at all bothered if all religious nuts - of ANY religion - simply ceased to exist.

erekose, I know you feel justified in your continued comments and debates about all of this, but all it really does is make you look like a jerk. Charles has a right to feel however he wants (logic does not apply to feelings and beliefs...obviously...look at religion - no logic there) and your continued attempts to "teach" him just come across as arrogant and condescending.

That's just my opinion, though, and will be debated or dismissed, I'm sure.

Do you think the question I asked was unreasonable?
