greencard and ssn middle name was from mother

hello, i just received my greencard this january:):):) but im worried that if i renew my passport this 2012 it wont be match with my ssn and passport bec we do it in usa way, drop my father's name and have my mothers name for my middle name, we are thinking that i will just let it expired this 2012 then wait till i can apply for us passport because we are also planning to travel after that,thanks in advance:)
