K1 Interview in Montréal

I tried to find this topic somewhere and I didn't find anything...

My USC fiancé and myself received an electronic notice saying our NOA2 was approved and mailed on Jan 24 (yippee!!!). But now I am a little confused about the next steps.

Once Montréal's consulate receives our case, how long does it take for them to contact the Canadian beneficiary?

Also, do they mail me Pkt3 or do I have to download the forms and send them on my own?

And at which point in the process am I assigned an interview date?

Thanks in advance!

AOS from K1 completed February 2012

Hey there, we have nearly the same timeline :)

It's my understanding you can fill the forms out now, but wait for your Packet 3 (2 weeks? 3 weeks?) for further instructions before you mail them.

February 3, 2011 - application sent from NVC to Montreal (aka. the Abyss?)

March 7, 2011 - Packet 3 sent to me

I was mailed the Packet 3. All it told me was to go online and fill out the forms though. I did, sent it in, they took about 3 weeks to mail me the Packet 4, which then instructed me to book my interview online. I just checked the waiting period between booking the interview and getting it, and it was about 3 months, so apparently I had a really lucky time in that I managed to get in in 3 weeks.

Hope that helped!

What was the delay between booking the interview and the interview date? Could you get an appointment say in the next 2 weeks or is it a longer wait?

Guess I'll start filling all the Pkt 3 forms and mail it as soon as I receive theirs by mail. We haven't had our case number yet so I can't even call them. heh. I will also have a titer test done so I have my immunization sorted out for my medical. And if I do need any shots, will get them done asap at my local clinic for a lot cheaper than in Montréal.

Whatever I can do to speed it up... I will

Thank you for sharing, good to know we're on that boat with other fellows!

O-M-G. That's in 3 months!

Why does everyone say it gets a lot faster once you get your NOA2?

Because it is faster for most people, just not the people that run into the MONTREAL ICE BERG. That place is a death trap!

I checked yesterday and there was a March date available. Guess it depends on timing and cancellations. So wish I could have booked it but I have wait for Packet 4. :( But yeah, I'm seeing only May dates now.

Can you book your interview before receiving your Pkt4? What info do you need to have in hand when you apply for an appointment online?

Your packet 3 needs to be logged before you can schedule your appointment. I would suggest waiting for packet 4 before you book. I waited until my fiance got his packet 4 (his came 3 days before mine did) I was afraid that they might cross reference the interview booking date with the time that they sent packet 4. DOS actually suggested I wait when I called them.

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well.

I haven’t received my packet 3 yet, but is there any where I can get the link and see what dates are available to book an interview appointment in Montreal? I know I can’t book one now until I get the packet 4 but I just want to see the dates that are available. Our wedding is in July and [/b]we are worried if we end up postponing the wedding date!!!

You see the dates when you pick a DHL location. Last week they were booking for mid May in Montreal. You should set your timeline. click the link and fill in the blanks. It would make it easier for people to help you :-)
