K1 extension?

Does someone know if I could get an extension after the K1 has been attached to my passport? I got my K1 in November and will end in April. Takes more time then anticipate to sale my place and wonder how to extend a K1 if possible… I'm still in Canada btw.

Thanks

I do not believe the K1 visa can be extended. Use it or lose it sort of thing. Couldn't you leave your place unsold under the representation of a realtor? Many people move before their homes are sold...

I looked into this for the very same reason. We were told that you can request it but it was very possible that they would refuse to do so. The worst case scenario is that they say no so I would give it a try. The Spring market will be starting, soon, so there's every possibility that your home will sell before the visa expires. The nice thing is that, if it closes after you move to the US, you won't be taxed on the sale as a non-resident homeowner since it was your main residence prior to your move. In my case I opted to move and have others handle the supervision of the movers for me since my house had sold, but the closing occurred after the expiration of my visa. I went ahead and signed off on all the documents with my lawyer before I left since the K-1 had the limitations on my ability to travel back and forth.
