- Instructions in Packet 3 say that I should submit these required forms via my chossen DHL courier location, in Ottawa (the location must be in Canada). I am currently in the US (visitor), and hope to continue to remain here until my visitor visa expires or I have to return for my interview. Given that I can not easily reach Ottawa (am not in Canada!) am I permitted to use Fed Ex or some other courier to get the information to the Montreal Consulate?

- Are there any fees that I could/should pay now, in advance to help speed up the process? (The instructions do not specify any, but I'm happy to "work ahead".)

Nope. The embassy only uses DHL, you have to select a DHL location to pick up your Visa and passport at after the interview.

edit to add-

Not to mention you must be in Canada for the medical, to get the police reports and long form birth cert if you don't have it. As well as the interview.

Fees are paid online by credit card before the interview. 350$.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Already have the birth certificate and police background check. We'll be going north for the medical closer to the time of the actual interview date. I understand that I have to pick up the Visa after the interview, at the DHL location selected. I'm more concerned about getting the Form I-864 (and accompanying documents) TO the Consulate. The instruction letter says "Please return the forms and checklist to the US Consualte via the DHL courier location that you previously selected. This service is provided to you at no additional cost, but is provided within Canada only."

So, my question is; since I'm not in Canada, may I use a different courier service?

I sent my packet 3 back by Canada post Xpresspost because there is no DHL depot near me. It was accepted and logged and I have packet 4. I did go online and pick the closest DHL for me though because I will have to pick the visa up there when it comes. I hope that helps. Also if you are applying for the K1 it is the I-134 that your fill out and you don't send that, you take it and supporting documents to the interview with you.
