The woman who interviewed me was definitely not a retiree; she was young. She fits the description of the lady who interviewed lots of other folks on here (nice, youngish, blonde). She seriously didn't give me ANY indication that there would be additional delays. She gave me the welcome letter for goodness sake--and said to expect that passport back "in about a week."

I'm encouraged, at least, that you did evenutally get the visa in your case...and at least it was one month and not 6...but still, not fair!

One thing maybe worth saying is that my second wedding anniversary is in one month and a few days. So maybe I'll end up with an IR-1 in the end (in stead of CR-1)? With my luck, though, I'll get the CR-1 one day or something before the second annivesary :(

Even if you get it before your 2nd anniversary, If you do not cross till your anniversary or the day after you should be able to mention it at poe and they will change it for ya. Give you a Ir stamp not a cr stamp... I almost got a ir by mistake lol dammit :)

Really? That's interesting.

But, in any case, I don't care much whether it's IR1 or CR1. Just let me get on with my life! I'm so depressed right now; I can barely function at all. Why why why is this happening?

And if they don't get through with "administrative processing" by sometime in March, I think my police certificate will expire. Are they going to make me go get a whole other one? And then that will get stuck in the mail room in Montreal being checked for anthrax or whatever on earth they do with their mail.

This is never going to end, is it?

I'm so angry and sad and hopeless :( :( :(

Oh, and I don't think I've mentioned how rude the operator was to me at DoS. So rude!

Nothing anyone can say that will cheer you up or change the events. Hopefully its happens faster than sooner! Get your husband to contact her congress person, may help it may not, but can't hurt to try! When things get down for myself--I know others are going thru much more and that helps me. Hopefully this will soon be a thing in the past!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

We had our second anniversary while waiting in AP but still got the provisional green card - they said we'd be likely to get stuck back in AP if they changed the kind of visa we were applying for. Yet more bureaucratic cruelty. I was also told that we could ask them to adjust this once he arrived, so I'm going to get to that in the next few days --

I have employment base immigration interview on March 29th and got the "Welcome to USA" letter. Officer told me that you will get your passport in next 3-4 days. Next day I got email from same officer that my case has moved to necessary administrative processing and passport will not be delivered as mentioned at the time of interview.

I am Canadian Citizen from last 6 months but born in India. AP is a very random term that consulate used for many reasons. I have not option then waiting.

Your birth country is what matters. That is why you got AP.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I am a Citizen of the United States of America. 04/16/13

Thanks Inky.

I can understand and not easy to predict how long it takes in AP for Indian (Country of birth).

Just wondering, do given (http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/login)site update info/waybill every day? I am checking this site for waybill info.

Honestly I don't like how they AP people like that from certain countrys, but I guess they have to do what they have to do.

I'm not sure if they update everyday but DHL will post notification only when they get the package, not before. So when its sitting in their office they will put a notice up. They don't offer very good " tracking " services at all it seems.

You can also try calling DOS and asking them if your visa has been printed yet or if you are still in AP etc. They would have some details on the goings on.

Thanks xtreme. It seems it took 13-14 business days for your AP. Just wondering if you can share country of birth/citizenship.

Consulate kept my passport after interview but mentioned AP next day.

Do DHL call everyone when they receive passport?
