Danno, as usualy, you missed the point. She was pointing out that she actually does know about this topic, unlike yourself.

If Danno saw an ultrasound image of a zygote/fetus (or whatever the medical term is at that stage) that looked like a tadpole he'd probably think it really was a tadpole. It's what happens when you get all your knowledge from Google Images without any academic background at all.

Trig, she is not the only consumer of this topic.

Thats twice you have repeated that, perhaps some additional info, contradicting my photos might give your thought, some legs?

Unlike you Danno, she actually has an educated opinion.

Wow, you almost sound like you are protecting the "little lady".

I think she is quite capable.

I doubt she needs anyone to protect her. Just pointing out another of your follies.

I know maybe Danno doesn't care about offending people. I care about if I am offending people so I don't try to do it on purpose but it can happen anyway. Most of us do know what a fetus looks like by a certain point. That doesn't seem to stop most abortions. I can understand more(yet don't agree with) not caring a lot about an abortion when the pregnancy is very early on, when you can't feel anything, it doesn't look like a "baby" yet, compared to when it definitely resembles a baby, even before it is viable outside of the womb. In my opinion, it's unfair to the fetus to have viability be the determining factor for when an abortion happens. I find it horrid to imagine a fetus even the size of 18 weeks to be killed. It's much easier for people to make a decision when it doesn't seem like it's real yet. But it's real from the beginning.

I was watching an educational YouTube last night about fetal anomaly scans and one of the women in the video made the comment that during that scan she found out the gender of the baby and "suddenly it felt real, like there's a real baby in there". Not being a woman, I have absolutely no idea what it feels like but it struck me as odd that it would take quite that long to "feel real".

Yeah, I have known people who said similar. Usually it's when they weren't expecting to get pregnant. When you find out the gender, it can feel like you finally know who is in there! I guess for me it didn't make the pregnancy feel more real, but it felt more personal. Like I could start using the name I picked out.(yes we already had boy/girl names ready to go! Kavi or Kavya)

Exactly. If Danno could tell me something I didn't know about fetal development I would definitely listen, but someone trying to "educate" me with photos from the internet when they don't even know what they're talking about is kinda silly.

I have never had an abortion but I have had to make the decision to end the life of my child after birth.. I am sure most of you know the story but here are the basic details...

a few years back I went into premature labour around 23 weeks... he looked like a baby just really small, he weighed around a pound or so... He was immediately put on life support and lived for 12 days but it was too hard to keep him stable and he had a level 4 brain bleed which meant he had brain damage so we had to make the decision to take him off life support... to this day I wonder if we made the right decision..

***********

one of the nurses there told us that girls born young seem to have more of a chance of a survival... not sure why that would be..

Hey, I don't mind being corrected by a Student or anyone else, if the pics misrepresented the medical facts, please clarify.

If the photos are accurate... why the need to discount them as -internet photos?

The photos are fine, but just because it has eyes and hairs doesn't mean that everything on the inside is developed
