What cell phoneservice do you guys use to talk to your fiances? Mine is in honduras and I have sprint pcs and its expensive! They charge for incoming international LD and I don't know if I can keep paying it, its getting ridiculous! someone please help if you have a cheaper way. Thanks in advance!

Skype is a great way to communicate with your fiancee ! And you get to see each other whenever !

All you have to do is to pay for flat internet , if you have a laptop great, if not, buy a cheap headset and web cam and you're good to go !

Personally, I prefer to use my home phone. I get unlimited international calling for $35.00 ontop of my local calls of $19.00 with AT&T. If I AM using my cell phone to say a "Hey, I'll be home late tonight- I'll call you at such and such time", I use SPRINT and have their International Plan that is an additional $5.00 a month and charges $10 a minute instead of the $45 a minute I'd get without it.

Other options is this little device called the magic jack! You buy it for $19 and it allows you to use your phone through the internet FOR FREE. Basically, it's a free land line phone you can use to call ppl international. My Step-Mother uses it to call her daughters in Brazil.

Another option is Skype! At the time I used it, it was FREE for international calls. It worked okay.

My Husband and I are both video game nerds, so we use the internet to communicate and spend time together A LOT by playing multi-player games online and use our web cams every so often with Skype.

She connects the magic jack to her USB port on her computer or any internet cafe computer and then she connects a phone to the magic jack. She can call any land line of cell phone in the USA for Zero cost to you. The magic jack includes one year of service when you purchase it. It cost less than $20 per year to use. It is cheaper to pay for the 5 year plan after the first year.

I like it because she can call my cell phone and talk to me while on the way to/from work. She can call my work number, etc. She also uses it to call her sister that lives in the USA. Her whole family loves having magic jack. It is really great.

Also, if she has the magic jack plugged in and the computer on, you can then call her from any phone here in the USA.

Lastly, you can go to the magic jack logon ID on the iternet and enter the email and password used for the setup of the magic jack and print out the telephone log and contact list periodically for record purposes that can be later used for her interview.

I uses Stanacard for cell phone calls. You buy it on-line and it will assign a local number to your fiance. You call the local number and it connects through to your fiance's cell phone. The rates are MUCH cheaper than the phone company rates. http://stanacard.com/en/home.aspx

If you have a smartphone, you should be able to download some good phone apps on there. I have an iPhone, so I use a combination of Vonage Mobile and Skype. With Vonage, I can talk unlimited for only $25 with my fiancee who lives in India. I am not sure if Android phones currently have Vonage Mobile, but I'm guessing they do have it available by now. But you can get Vonage for your home landline anyway, and you would have to pay a separate, one-time price for the adapter.

I use my cell phone (as little as possible) and my international T-Mobile plan. It still is expensive even though it gives me a discounted rate I still pay $0.25 a minute to call my fiance's cell phone. I mostly use Skype to make calls, it is cheaper than my cell at $0.15, but it still adds up. I also use calling cards (those that they sell at Mexican supermarkets) and they are the best deal if I want to talk for half an hour or so (a $2 card lasts 30 minutes). I tried using Rebtel, but it did not work for us. I do not have a landline and neither does my fiance, the only phone we both have is our cell phone and because of this we are not able to use other cheaper options which require a landline. I hope you find cheaper ways to stay in touch!

Hi! If you have high speed internet service at home. You can get a magic jack and register it to someone in the US. I have one I use at home, and I bought my fiance' one in the Philippines. I simply registered it to my address and shipped it to her. Now we talk all the time, either through yahoo messenger or the magic jack. Magic Jack is like making a local call. Good luck!

My fiance doesn't have internet in his apartment so it makes things like magic jack and skype more difficult. We use skype about once a week when he can get to an internet cafe and we video chat. Other than that, I buy phone cards (PeruTel) and it's pretty cheap. It's $.03 a minute to call his land line (I made him get one so it would be cheaper), and about $.12 to call a cell phone. You call a US number, then enter your pin number then call the number you want to dial. It's nice cuz i can use a cell phone or landline and pay the same amount (only the amount to call the US number). It works well, but I still do end up paying about $20 a month in phone cards.

I was going to offer http://www.voipcheap.com, but when I looked at the rates in your country (Honduras), it doesn't look that cheap. It's about 14 eurocents/min to a landline phone.

What I like about this calling company is that they offer 2 iPhone apps: one for sending text messages and the other - for calling. Some destinations are even free to call, i think. (unfortunately, Kyrgyzstan does not fall under that "free" category")

I would do what others are suggesting here. Although, if your fiance does not have an internet at home, those options are not the best ones..
