first i would like to say sorry i was up late last night peparing my proof of bona fide relationship. And I got nervous and put up my post with out thinking of the words i was using.I have always fought for equal rights for all races cultures.Im so sorry if i offended any one i should have used the word.caucasion american.and also i do know that it is dangerous there for all people.I was just wondering if it would be more dangerous for me.because.iam caucasion.iam also worried about my wonderful wife because she is a woman. And i truely love and have many fiends of different races. And i respect everyone as equal. My wife is Mexican and i love her for her culture. So iam truely sorry if i sounded strang.please forgive me!!

No worries here man and no apologies necessary to me. Actually only a couple of folks had issues with it at all. i would have used the term Gringo personally, lol. As a gringo, as I am, you are more prone to kidnapping than natives and that is just a fact. Just follow the advice of staying close, staying in and room service. One more thing I thought of. My wife and I got the name and number of a couple of the private cabs we used and used them almost exclusively for our entire 8 days in Bogota. There is a private company with screened background drivers available in Juarez and if you want their web site just email me (email is on the profile) and I will be happy to give it to you. Good luck.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

LOL...too funny here we are all trying to marry foriegn people & probably the LEAST racist bunch on the planet & you get jumped on for saying white & being scared about it in the most dangerous city on the planet! I am white, gringa, guera, & blondie don't care about the terms, call me what you want! Cd. Juarez is scary & I for one understand what you are asking, here is my suggestion, don't wear much valuable jewelry or carry many valuables & stay in the area of the consulate. From what I hear many Gringos go with fiancees to CDJ! check out the videos to make you feel a bit more informed...I will be going to Juarez tall white, blonde LOL! I still think it is funny we can't say white (and yea everyone I know it was not the word, but the suggestion of being targeted for race...still I am laughing at our world)

If there is chaos in the city now, and you are worried, and you are not required to be at the interview, maybe you just should not go. Wait for your woman to come over.

Well of course he should go! he would not want his 'woman' going there alone, right!?! The area around the consulate is fairly safe, most people targeted in Juarez are going off the beaten path & are usually (yes just usually) Mexican nationals, or drug gang members, though so many of the innocent residents are caught in the cross-fire in CDJ.

He is not required at the interview but would you want your woman traveling alone there? Nope, don't worry...go! I am a white chick, not even getting married but am going with my American amigo (vietnamese descent)who is marrying my best friend an Mexican Nat'l with 2 boys aged 9 & 13 so we are going together I will keep the boys busy with stuff/nintendo? like a good auntie since I have known them forever!

I promise to write a big giant report...maybe even while we are there just to update everyone on the scariest city in the world! (tho Cairo is looking scary today...pray for everyone there & here!)

best wishes to all, Kim

The better thing will be to go like you said, but the OP seems like he is worried he would stick out. The fact that the OP might not be there does not mean the beneficiary would have to go alone. I'm sure she has friends and family members that know more about the city and the situation, that can accompany her just like you're doing for your friends. Nonetheless, that was just my 2 cents.

I drove along the USA/Mexico border in this region, and personally, I thought it would be safest to travel into and out of this city at very early hours of the morning - as when these photos I had taken show a sleepy town at this time of day.

The one time I had an, "Oh-Sh!!" moment was when I was with a group of travelers in Tubares, Sinaloa and a group of four drunks wanted to pick a fight with the group I was traveling with out of the Copper Canyon. They were strapped and we weren't. One of them called me a ***, and the white guy I was standing with also got called names. Sicks & Stones. If they weren't strapped, I would have taught them a lesson in a So Cal minute. Back to the topic...

Here, on the extreme west-side of the city, things are pretty slow.
