Welcome to VJ. It's not as bad as you think, follow the CR-1 guides here step by step. I did and we saved thousands doing it ourselves. I thought it was a scary and daunting task at first, but once you fill out the forms, attach tons of information and read about it here and ask lots of questions, you will see it's not so bad. It has cost us around 1400.00 so far, not much in comparison to what you would pay an immigration lawyer to do it.

I was once denied entry to see my husband, but when I came back with a novel of ties to Canada, it passed and they have never since bothered me. I live 10 minutes from the border and have crossed my whole life with no problems. I have never yet told them i'm married to a USC as they have never asked. Usually when I cross..(and I cross often for one thing or another)...i'm going to dinner, shopping or something else, if they were to ask me about my husband..of course I would never lie to them about that.

He lives about 5hrs away from me, so we haven't seen each other in 5 weeks, but we have face time on our ipod touches and talk alot. Soon our interview will be over and we'll be together finally. It will be close to 10 months or longer till we can live with each other, but believe it or not..it has gone by faster than we thought.

So good luck to you and ask tons of questions here, they are very knowledgeable here at VJ.

I am in Victoria BC....

there seems to be a real spread in timelines here... is the K3 typically faster than the K1 visa? I was hoping for around 6 mths

and I heard some disturbing into today - do they not do K3 interview in Vancouver??? Do I have to fly to Montreal?? Please tell me this isn't true.

K-3? What?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

4-6 months is the estimated time between your NOA 1 and your NOA 2. Don't forget there is the USCIS to NVC to Consulate phase that takes about another month, and then add the time your consulate schedules your the interview. Could take up to 9 months

I think I am confused - I am married to a US Citizen = so he applies for the I130 - and then we get a K3 visa? And I was wondering if they handle the K3 interviews (or whatever interview I am required to get through a consulate) in Vancouver and not just Montreal? (as I live in Victoria - Montreal will be outrageously expensive and inconvenient to get to).
