My fiance is dying to know the answer to this question... and so I thought I'd see if anyone out there has had experience with this.

So, he has a PS3 that he wants to bring over so that we can use Blu-ray player, netflix, hulu, AND use to play online with his mates from back home.

We know that games are region free, so that is a good sign. But, he is blocked in the UK for netflix and hulu. Will he be able to connect in the US with a PS3 bought in the UK? And will there be any problems connecting it online or whatever to play with other people? And is it possible to use a power cord made for a US PS3 on a PS3 from the UK?

If anyone has experience with this, we would be very grateful to hear about it!! There is all kinds of conflicting information on the web about it, so we want to hear from someone who has tried this!! If there are any other nerds out there :)

I believe the block for netflix is regional because of the internet location, not because of the box. It should work just fine in the US, but I can't say for sure.

As for the cord; my PS3 says it needs 120V here in the US. What does yours say at the bottom? If it does not say 120V, you'll need an adapter. The cord we use here has no box or transformer on it; just a plain cord. Does your cord have a transformer where it plugs into the wall? If your PS3 says it needs 120V, and your cord has a transformer with it because your power there is not 120V, then you will not be able to use that cord here. Instead, you would use a standard PC cord without a transformer. They are a dime a dozen. Nothing special about them.

Does your fiance play call of duty black ops? It's a great game on the PS3.

Hello,

I don't know if this helps any, but with a PS3 bought in the US my fiance is unable to play any kind of movies using the PS3 in the UK, due to the regional block.

He can still play games and connect to Playstation Network.

It might be worth it for your fiance to sell back his PS3 somewhere in the UK and use the money to buy a new one in the US. With the exchange rate, he might end up with an even trade. Just take all of his save games off using a USB device so that he doesn't lose any of his data.

Yes he does! He loves that game! As a matter of fact, that is the game that is going to be his main connection with his mates back home.. hence the reason this whole PS3 thing is such a big issue!!

Then you're right. It is a big issue. He's gotta have his COD. Good luck.
