Items to bring to interview

Hi there, I have a question about the items required to bring to the AOS interview. In the section that lists the "Affidavit of Support", it says "If Not Submitted". However in the section below, it lists a few items which were not required for the initial submission, like the letters from your employer. If we already submitted the affidavit, do we need to bring these items? I was planning on bringing all the documentation that we sent in originally. We're both working - I am on TN status, and we're well above the required amount...any thoughts?

I would bring a letter from your employer, or 6 months of paystubs. The interview letter specifically asks for it. There is some confusion on the part of USCIS regarding employment letters and the I-864. The instructions on the I-864 itself say it is optional, but the page where you download the I-864 on their website has a checklist, and it says all sponsors must include proof of current employment, which is usually either an employment letter or 6 months of paystubs. Your interview letter, however, does specifically ask for it. If you don't bring it to the interview, and the IO decides they want it, worst that can happen is that you'd get an RFE, so it's not the end of the world, just further delay. Good luck.

Hi Harpa,

Our interview is on the 8th of February, this post rattled me a bit. My husband doesn't have an employment letter instead his company forwarded to us their version of a pay stub which they call a PAY & CONTRIBUTION STATEMENT which basically tells his rate, how much he earns monthly and all his monthly contributions and deductions.We Submitted 12/09 - 06/10 with the original I-864 and now we requested from 07/10 - 11/10 which we will bring to the interview to add to the pay statements we previously submitted. Will this suffice in lieu of an employment letter?

I think so; 6 months of paystubs is also a valid proof of current employment, and it sounds to me like what you have is a fancy paystub. You are bringing an update from what you originally sent, so you are doing what you can and following instructions. Don't worry
