I am currently on the NVC stage but I have a question about interviews: I keep reading on the VJ about Administrative Review that is lately frequently given by Russian embassy to the beneficiaries before issuing visa but after the interview. How long is it? When is it issued and why? Is this random?

I read one horror story about AP with one Moscow interview, and neither one of them has any idea what the problem is.

Are there more Moscow AP stories that I missed?

I am interested because if there are, I want to know how to avoid it.

I think AP is not such a frequent thing for Russia like for example for Middle East countries. I rely in my observations on russian forum (not VJ), there were no members who was put on AP, on average took from a week to 10 days to have visa in hand.

Of course it doesnt apply to cases with major red flags which are listed on US embassy in Moscow website , otherwise would not worry much :)

This thread piqued my interest, and I researched it as well. I got the same impression that it does not usually happen. We should do our best to avoid red flags to keep it from happening. When the alien goes to the embassy, send her with several e-mails between you, evidence of regular phone calls like calling card purchase records, photos of gifts you exchanged, maybe a letter or two from people who know you about their observation of how much you love each other, and you should be fine.

What worries me and has caused me to lose a lot of sleep is a story of a horrific nightmare right out of Moscow with a seemingly normal and routine American-Russian couple, who were put into AP for 7 months and then denied based on a claim of an inaccurate statement in the petition. Neither of them have any idea what the problem is. Here is their story: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/293021-dreaded-221g/

Well.. to be honest with you... I researched this subject and I am just as paranoid as you are... However, looking closely into it.. I am sure this is not perfectly fine couple. I am sure that there was one of the following:

1) She is a criminal or

2) She did drugs or

3) She has an STD or

4) She has submitted totally fraudulent information in her previous visa application.

It has to be really serious. Considering that they do not disclose this to him it must be and STD or drug addiction or criminal record.
