Flow chart shows all the steps pretty much with explanations.

You can call NVC and ask for your case number or you can wait to get your embassy case number.

K-1 goes to the NVC for a week or less, it gets put in the system and assigned a case number to the embassy you will interview at. Then you prep for the rest of the work in your country. Medical, police report, forms, interview etc.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

First of all congratulations. USCIS will send your case to NVC who would send you a mail in about 2 weeks after receipt of your case. NVC will give you another case number beginning with LGS. You should wait for NVC to send your case to the Lagos consulate, which could take up to 3 weeks. To confirm the Lagos consulate receipt of your case, email them, they usually about 2 business days to reply. When you email them with your inquiry, be sure to include your LGS case number, your name and the beneficiary's. They will email you with your interview date and the interview preparatory packet. Good luck on the next stage.

Congrats! You can also start gathering ur info for the affidavit of support once ur case reach Lagos i assume that is where ur interviewing u can send them an email requesting an interview date. They normally take 2 to 3 weeks to get back to u. Also Lagos doesnt mail pkt 3 u can dowload pkt 3 from the DOS website and start working on that as well. Good luck!

Congratulations on your approval! (F)

My petition was approved on 01/24 and was sent to my fiance's consulate on 01/31, for us K1 filers the time spent in NVC is usually quick (1 to 2 weeks) before they ship the petition to the appropriate consulate. Now, ask for advice from Nigerian VJ members in order to get more consulate specific advice, but first CELEBRATE! :D

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

Thanks everyone....So I don't have to do anything right now, or pay any money as of this moment?

I have seen some people talking about making payments to NVC...

Payments are made to the NVC for IR1/CR1 visas, not K1 visas. No worries.

Congrats on reaching this step and good luck getting through the next step which will be getting packet 3 from the Lagos Consulate after NVC sends your case over there :)

You would only make payments to NVC on a IR-1/CR-1 visa. K-1s don't require anything at this moment. You just have to wait to get the LGS case number from NVC and wait for them to send it to Lagos consulate. Then contact the consulate via email at LagosIV@state.gov after about 3 weeks to get an interview date and further instructions from them.
