If you still have time, i think you can still request a certified copy of his birth certificate, just to be sure.

They do not really ask for it, BUT then you never know when they will ask for the BC..There were some reviews by vj members that there are IO that really ask for the BC (original or the certified one, coz the IO thinks that it's easy to obtain a photocopy and it might be a fake BC if its photocopy)..

Although the US Passport is a legal document that proves his citizenship.

BUT I will still recommend that you get a copy of his BC.(coz u might need it in the future too!)

That is just my opinion though, when We had our interview, the IO did not ask for my husband's passport or BC, though he presented his Driver's License. :)

good luck on your upcoming interview!

thank you for your reply. we finally decided to get a copy of his birth certificate and it just about 5 mins. at least that's one last thing to think about for the interview!

congratulations on your greencard! hoping to have the same experience as yours on our upcoming interview! :D

Still no word regarding my wifes Green card. Our status hasnt changed from testing and interview since March 30 2011. Our interview was May 5 2011. I didnt like the IO but any way, at the end of the interview, he told us he would not make his decision until he reviewed another file where my wifes adopted parents (us citizens) filed for her after she was adopted. It was disapproved because she was to old for AOS based on adoption (15). And thats only because the adoption paperwork took two years to complete. Well we still havent heard anything and i dont know if its to soon to try and call asking about it. Well congratulations to all the new Permanent Residents out there. I hope my wife will hear something soon, something positive ^_^

It sounds, Barkers, like USCIS won't open an inquiry on its own into something unless it's been a year.

If you're in the US, and vote, and all that (which I presume you do), maybe you can ask the Representative or Senator from your district whether they can check the status of things? I'm not sure whether it works for AOS, but I've heard during the I-129F process, if a high-level elected official asks for the status of something, they have to be given an answer very quickly. Fortunately, we never got to that point, so I don't know the details, but maybe someone else in here can tell you. Just a thought.

Also I am not sure how close you live to your local USCIS ofc but you could schedule an info pass and go in and ask them what is going on. the only downside to that is that sometimes they dont tell you any more than you already know and it could be a wasted trip especially if you live a long distance from the ofc..........

we had our interview yesterday at the San Berndardino office. Our appointment was at 10:30. Got there early so we ate first coz I was already expecting a long wait. :P there was a little bit of a line outside to go through the security check. when we went up to the 2nd floor, there were a lot of people waiting. we got called in around 11:40 already. At first I thought we were not gonna have a good experience coz our IO was a snob when I said hi. so we just followed him to his office which was kinda far from where we entered. then he asked for our IDs, my SSN and our marriage certificate and whatever additional documents I have, made us swear to tell the truth, verified info in the docs we submitted, asked about the silly questions, checked the docs I gave and got the photocopies, photocopied our IDs, then just started typing. while he was typing, my husband and I were looking at the pictures/frames in his office. that's when he started talking to us and telling us stories about them. :) then afterwards, he showed me the paper he printed out saying Congratulations! and the instructions for filing for the Permanent Greencard 90 days prior to 2nd yr anniversary of approval of conditional. that was it! no questions or anything about our marriage, to think that on our way there, I had to review my husband with all the possible questions that we may be asked.

so there! my husband is asking me how come i dont look like I'm happy. I told him I guess I just expected too much from our interview that I'm kinda disappointed that we werent even asked for anything. or maybe it has not sinked in yet coz I still dont have the card with me.

an hour after our interview, we got the email and text to check the website which says card/document production already.

I would like to say thank you to everyone here. I have learned so much from this site. I am also happy that I made the right decision not to hire a lawyer anymore coz that's a lot of money saved at least.

good luck to those who are still waiting. dont stress yourselves...

to the rest of us, let's celebrate!!!!

Still no word for us. Its been over three months since our interview. The USCIS website states for I485 the total processing time is 4 months. Were on month 6 since mailing. Im in the military and ive been in Drill school for a month and a half now and were going to be moving soon. I would like to have this settled before we move so i can stop worrying about it, and not having to be concerned about things getting messed up after moving across the country. Something like us moving then them wanting to do another interview or something but now that weve moved they have to schedule the appointment in washington (were gonna be on the east coast) and then having to mail the whole packet which is risk of loosing it.......i just want to get all this over with until we can file for naturalization in three years...or three years from when my wife gets approved for PR... Sorry guys this was just a complaint session...congratulations everyone who has been approved thus far... ^_^

Sorry about the post earlier. After i got off work today i had a voicemail from a USCIS Case Worker telling me she had been reassigned to our case becuase the agent that was on it was just sitting on it. She said she just had a few questions before she makes a decision. I called back but it was after hours so i left a voicemail saying i was very happy to get her call and i will call as soon as i can tomorrow. About 10 minutes later i got a call from an unknown number and it was the Case Worker ^_^ she said she just got my voicemail and was happy she got me on the phone she didnt want to have to schedule an apppointment for us to go all the way to denver for just a few questions. I answered the questions which was very simple, she needed to ask them because the notes the Agent that interviewed us took did not make any sense. So after answering the questions she said she was very satisfied that our marriage was true and bonified and that she is going to approve us and will put it in the system tomorrow !!! Praise God ^_^ So i find it funny that it happen the same day that i emailed the Colorado Congressman lol. But our wait is finally over and she said we should recieve the card in about 2 to 3 weeks ^_^ thank you all for your support and our hard work and patience(what little i had lol) has paid off. Thank you all so much and Praise God!!!! ^_^
