Our AOS interview in Charlotte, NC

First, many, many thanks to the wonderful members of this forum without whom this tedious and sometimes nerve-racking process would have been so much more difficult!

WE GOT APPROVED TODAY!!!!!!!!! Our interview was a breeze. The IO officer was very nice and friendly. We were out in 15-20 minutes. But let's start with the beginning:

Our appointment was at 1.45 PM. We arrived at 1.15. At the entrance, we were asked to put all our stuff, including shoes, belts, keys, cell phones, in a plastic trey that went thorough the scanning machine. I had a bottle of water in my pocketbook and the security guard told me I needed to throw it or take it back to the car. He also asked to see our appointment letter and our IDs - we both showed him our driver licenses. After that, we were sent to a room where another man checked our appointment letter and gave us a nnumber. We were directed to another waiting room. We waited for half an hour and finally they called our number. The officer was very friendly. He asked for our IDs again, our interview letter, my passport and my I-94. That's it!!!!! nothing else!!!!! He probably got scared by the huge binder on my lap!!!!!! and the bag of copies my husband was carrying!!! He sworn us in and then he checked my husband's information - date and place of birth, his SSN, his phone number and his signature. The officer asked him how we met, my husband said "online", and again, that's it!!! No further questions about it, no more prompting for details, nada! Then it was my turn to get the personal information checked - the same as my husband, but he asked me to verify my parents' first names. Then, he said, "OK, let me approve you", and started clicking and typing. Finally, he explained the process of removal of conditions, printed me a paper with the whole explanation and the dates we need to apply for ROC, and we were out of there! Easy, breezy!!!!

Hi!

COngratulations on getting an interview date!

You can do some research here on Visa Journey using the search bar to see if there have been any other similar situations. However, I think they would prefer an official or authorized translator. Maybe someone here went through this and can give you more details.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response..much appreciated!!! and congratz on your succesful interview..

PS. He did not stamp my passport or keep my EAD/AP document.

I hope we will have the same interview experience! Hehehe... Thanks for the time to share ur experience... Congratulations!!! :-)

Thank you! What did you find out about the translator for the interview?

I haven't find anything on the forum yet.

I read all the past AOS interviews posted here and no one mentioned about bringing a translator.

I will call USCIS to see if they have more info.

Thanks again..

Ugh! How annoying that they lost your application! At least your interview is coming up soon. How did you find out it was lost?

Good luck with the interview! Mine is May 12th.

I called USCIS. after seeing how so many other february filers got theirs approved and I had nothing, not even a receipt number for it, I called. Very frustrating!

Good luck with your interview!
