if you would admit that guns are weapons that have specific functions that have nothing to do with benignly firing projectiles, and everything to do with stopping an animal or human in its tracks preferably by killing it.

I would rather not imagine that hunters go out to shoot animals with the sole purpose of stopping threats that cause them to fire and leaving a trail of suffering animals in their wake.

Rubbish, I have never suggested that guns possess any inherent moral characteristics, what I have said is that it's absolutely ludicrous to equate an idiot assembling his Ikea furniture using his tool set with an idiot running around with a gun, idiotic and foolish which is basically what this 'guns are simply tools' ####### boils down to.

For what it's worth in my opinion you are typical of the kind of idiot that should be prevented from handling guns, how do you get off thinking it's ok to brandish a gun whilst plastered? Clearly you lack impulse control, something that is absolutely necessary when handling weaponry.

No, I have not made a comparison as to which is the worse idiot, I have made the judgment that one idiot is much more likely to be a problem than the other, for the obvious reason that weapons are designed to cause harm, that's their purpose. I am quite sure you would rather confront a criminal with a gun than a hammer, and that's not because the gun is evil and the hammer is good.

True. The problem is that they give the person possessing one the ability to greatly increase his power to commit evil on another living thing! I think this is the main reason so many people have such a love for guns, the feeling of power to control whether others live or die!
