AOS APPROVED!!

Hi Guys,

Sorry I didn't post this last week but my husband and I have been seriously decompressing since the interview but the long and short of it is that we had our interview last Thursday morning and we were approved..WOHOO!!

I think we were so nervous/tired and wraught by the time we got to the building that we sat in the waiting room and literally laughed and cracked jokes for the 20 mins we were there...all the other people waiting must have thought we were nuts!!

Anyway...interview was scheduled for 9:30 and we were called in just before it. We were asked to stand and take an oath that the information we were about to give was the truth and then we sat down. The interview went from there...I swear it was a 'blink and you miss it' kind of thing, we were in, out and all approved in 12 to 15 minutes...it was unreal...wasn't sure what to say when she said she was going to approve our application...I was numb I think. Told us that we'd have to kick start the process to get the restrictions lifted on our green card in about a year and 9 months. She stamped my passport with a temporary green card stamp which is valid for 60 days, this is to cover me should the real card take longer than the two weeks she said it would to come out in the mail.

When we left, we just kept looking at eachother, the relief was immense and to be honest, it's still sinking in, but one of the first things I did when we got back to the car was write down all she asked us and here it is:

She confirmed our names and address, dates of birth and where we were born (she asked us this twice throughout the course of the interview)

How did you meet?

Were either of us married before (she asked us this twice throughout the course of the interview)

When did he propose?

When was the marriage?

Who was at it?

Went through some of the 'Yes' or 'No' questions on the I-485

Why we had a co-sponsor and what relation he was to us?

Asked us about our joint finances

If, when I last entered the country, I had intended to get married.

Was I pregnant (apparently something on the medical was a contra-indication to my being pregnant or trying to become pregnant)

If we had any photos together.

All in all...it was very straightforward...more so than I had thought it would be. She never asked to look at any of the copies or original we brought in apart from our Identification. By and large the questions were aimed at both of us, she never really singled one of us out except when she was running through the I-485 questions with me and confirming our names and addresses etc. but that was it.

When she said she was going to approve the application, she said that she noticed I had an EAD application pending and Travel Documents pending, she said she would have me withdraw them as I didn't need them now with the approval so she printed out two pages and asked me to sign them. It's kind of a pity in one regard that we applied for them as it's just under $400 in fees that we won't see back but we honestly thought the AOS interview process would take much longer than it has. All in all, the AOS packet was posted on May 22nd and our Interview was August 24th so literally just over three months it took us to be in and out. That said, however, had we not applied for the EAD and the Travel Documents, Murphy's Law being what it is, the process probably would have taken a lot longer so I guess it's a ####### shoot as to whether you need them or not.

Really hope this information helps someone out there, I have to say that without this site the whole process, paperwork aside, would have been a lot more painful, it has really helped my husband and I to know that there are others out there going through the same thing..gave us hope...an immense amount..so thank you to everyone who posts here and those who maintain it. It's been an invaluable source to us and as we continue through the process I will continue to post what we've heard or received from the USCIS.
