Almost there, but what about what's happening in Egypt?

I just called USCIS today, and I got an RFE which is fine with me. At least I know someone touched my file.

I am originally Egyptian, and so is my fiancee. What if we get the approval notice with the situation that just started in Egypt? The US embassy now is closed, and no body knows when it is going to reopen again. The whole country's future is uncertain?

How will this affect us? What would the NVC do? Where would they send the paperwork?? How can we complete the process?

Anybody knows?

I am in the same situation also. I resend my application to USCIS and i am petitioning my fiancee from Egypt. I do not know what will happen to our paperwork also if they approved the application what will happen then. I have the same question :( i hope that we can bring our love ones to safety.

I believe what happens (and I might be wrong) is that the interview will be postponed until the consulate re-opens. Again, I may be wrong, and Im sure I will be corrected if I am.

I am very sorry for your anguish, and I hope that your loved ones remain safe through these troubled times. (F)

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the captain of my soul.

NVC will send the approved applications to the nearest consular. Note, every country doesn't have a US consular within it, many applicants are being interviewed at other consulars. Don't panic until it's your time to interview by then all may have been settled in Egypt. This isn't the first time the US have dealt with situations such as this.

Yes, in all honesty, if you just got an RFE, chances are this will all have settled down by the time your interview comes up. Keep strong though!

My Fiance's interview was supposed to be in Egypt on 1/30/2011. Snce everything is closed I called NVC and the Visa Dept in Wash. All they could tell me is that, hopefully the Embassy will open after a calm period.

The idea of transferring to another consulate is a no go for us, since all our paper work is in Egypt already.

Numb.
