Hi guys,

Good news! My mom's IR5 application just reached the "case closed" status on 3/11/11! And sign-in to the Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center failed! I hope she gets interviewed by mid-April.

Question: She had an advanced medical exam on Nov 4, 2010. Is this medical exam required to be valid at port of entry? Or just during the Interview? Also, if USEM does not give her a visa right away due to the "No criminal record" remark on the NBI clearance, will the medical exam needs be valid when the visa is finally issued? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Fred

04/17/10 - Send I-130 via Certified Mail

04/26/10 - Application received

04/28/10 - NOA1

09/29/30 - NOA2

09/30/10 - "touched"

10/05/10 - Called NVC, I-130 just arrived but not in the system yet

10/12/10 - NVC number issued, gave NVC agent email addresses (note: only petitioner can call for this)

10/21/10 - Received NVC email with IIN and AOS/DS-3032 instructions; Paid AOS; Sent DS-3032 email

10/22/10 - Sent DS-3032 via postal mail

10/23/10 - AOS bill marked paid, AOS cover sheet available for download (but I did not notice till 11/2/10)

11/04/10 - Advanced Medical Exam completed (using NVC#)

10/23/10 - IV Bill available, paid on website

11/03/10 - IV Bill marked paid, Document Cover Sheet available on websites

11/04/10 - Sent AOS packet via FedEx

11/30/10 - DS-230 Checklist email received

02/24/69 - Sent DS-230 via FedEx (took time to get NBI clearance. TIP: Get an NBI Clearance as soon as an application for a

US immigrant visa of any type is contemplated, especially if you have entered into any written contract involving

a sum of money or promise to render any service any time even if that was 20 years ago, as the Philippine police

and judicial system is very deficient and in some cases corrupt. (And I'm not bad-mouthing my country of birth;

I would live there again if I have enough money to put up a business or land a good-paying job there.) It only

costs P165 a copy. To prove my point, my mom had a long-dismissed case way back in 1999 from a lending

company. Turned out the dismissed case had a typographical error and it needed a court hearing and a month

for it to be corrected. To make matters worse, same plaintiff made a similar complaint in the same court for the

same reason on the same account that my mom had with them which was the basis of the first case, just at

the adjacent branch (so same location and building, just different room and judge) - this case had a standing

warrant of arrest for her for 10 YEARS that was never served - it took us three months to have it dismissed thru

an expedited process and she got cleared. What a waste of time. So get an NBI clearance as early as possible.

02/25/69 - DS-230 received by NVC

03/11/11 - Case Complete

03/12/11 - Sign-In Failed (may have been this way between 3/7 and 3/11)

By the way, you can email the NVC inquiry too for your interview date. That's what calibob did. He got a reply within the day he sent the email. God bless!

Interesting, never heard of anyone doing that before. Is there really a point though? You get an email from NVC anyways when the interview date is.

I knew that NVC schedules interviews on the second week only and I had just got a CC. Worth a shot and probably by coincidence they responded the same day. I just got a bit worried on Thursday that this month's scheduling window would pass us by is all.

Interesting. It obviously didn't hurt since you got a response and an interview date! What exactly did you say in the email? I think I'm gonna shoot them an email as well...

Case number in the subject line and a polite request for an interview date or further information after noting the day of case completion. Also included beneficiary and petitioners DOB, as is standard. This gave them every opportunity to make it right. Sent it to NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. Hope it works for you as well! Best of luck!!

We gave them 2 business days from when the sif so let them catch their breath too. They are only human and if pressured too soon, may get obstinate. We ran in to one lady at the state dept that gave me a dressing down after I got two different answers about the sif from nvc. Word to the wise.......
