There are people here that care and I'm one of them. I've been reading your updates and wondering what is going on......:(

Don't give up, there is still time to fix this. I'm wondering about the friend that disappeared....is he married, does he have a roommate, anything like that? If so, is it possible that it's sitting somewhere in the house or apartment and never got mailed, and your fiance could go get it? Just a thought, I don't know the situation.Surely his friend knows how important this is and won't stay gone and leave his friend hanging....:( Follow the suggestions from everyone here, email, call, whatever you have to do, but don't give up.......everything will work out. I'll be thinking about you. (((HUGS)))

I'm gonna write this and go cry my guts out in the shower,I just seriously hope that our story helps someone.

My SO and I got the package together in July of 2010.He sent the stuff in June and got the NOA in sept.

EVERYTHING went slow for us,it took us 135 or so days to get approved but we didn't find out that we were actually approved until about a month later when I contacted CSC via email.

He got the noa 2 and the hardcopy of our new case number from NVC about two weeks later and the embassy received our case in December.By the time the embassy had our case he had request a letter of deployment from someone high in his chain of command.we did not get this till last week.He sent a letter to request expansion on our noa 2's approval date but low and behold,UPS lost it.So long story short,he gave his part of packet 3 to a friend to mail it for him and the friend has gone MIA and I have a feeling that this packet will get lost just like the letter.

So here I am,being as miserable as I have ever been in my whole life, waiting on an email from embassy to see if we can fax another letter to request expansion cause thats literally our last hope.

I am risking my sanity and health over something so stupid.I can not go through this whole process again consider how the quality of the service USCIS is offering is getting lower and lower every single day,but that might be the last resort.

I guess the moral of the story is...don't worry if you're past the three months mark and your petition hasn't been approved, just pray to dear lord and St.Jude that you don't get in a situation like mine, cause you'll look back at USCIS days and laugh at it.

PS:If you are going to comment and suggest that I give up or find another spouse, save it,cause I have had with rude and bitter comments from members who are already done with this process.

i dont know where people are getting this idea that he is deploying. HE IS NOT,i repeat HE IS NOT DEPLOYING.

the lessons you can learn from my story:

1.dont wear yourself out in the first five months

2. always keep in touch with USCIS via anything but phone.

3.always make copies

4.use reliable postal services.UPS h as been majorly screwing up for quite sometime now, fedex and DHL might charge a small fortune but at least they are safe

update: the package was not sent,he is going to a bigger town on wednesday and he is going to try mailing it with DHL or schedule a pickup.we will see how that goes

I think that's why everyone is making references to your SO deploying, totally understandable. **edit - sorry I typed this before I saw your other post saying it's a letter of employment, not deployment**

At any rate, I feel for you and your frustrations, being apart for so long is tough enough, added to that errors (whether they be yours or the goverments) it still adds so much extra time.

Good luck with everything, try to stay positive!

I would not lose hope. If you know the military unit your Fiance is assigned look the unit up on the internet. Each unit will have a deployment Point of Contact States side. Contact that person to help coordinate getting you another deployment letter from his personnel records (Not hard to do). Have them send you a copy and bring it to the interview. They make a lot of special circumstances to those in the military especially when a military deployment interferes with your timeline. I would suggest you work with the embassy and tell them you would like to receive a conditional approval until your Fiance returns back from deployment; at such time you will reschedule for a final interview and complete the VISA approval process and then travel. If the mebassy refuses to grant this request, don't argue with them. Just have your Fiance contact his Congressman ASAP and I'm sure the congressman would not take lightly that the embassy is not providing the exception for a military member. It creates a negative patriotic image and congressmen hate negative patriotic support of our troops.

i thought the noa2 date automatically extended, or is that up to the individual consulate?

the noa 2 is extended when the wait is because of consulates slow speed.when its because of the petitioner and the beneficiary, the only way to extend it is by a later, and of course ours was lost

do the iran consulate have website? if they list what's in the packet 3. no needed for the actual packet 3(as long as you can download and print out all the forms that's needed)

Since the US does not have diplomatic relations with Iran at present, there are no embassies or consulates there (although the building that once was the US Embassy in Tehran still stands).

Iranian's seeking immigrant visas to the US will interview at the Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.
