how long to get noa1?

I assume you mailed it to the Texas lockbox?

You should receive your NOA1 about a week after it was received; if you used a check to pay your fee, you can track if it has been cashed...the time it takes for your check to be cashed and for your NOA1 to be out is only a couple of days apart....if you submitted a G-1145 with your petition, USCIS should send you a SMS or an e-mail very soon.

i mailed it and it was received on Jan 24 and sent to Vermont. I reckon its in vermont by now, so when can i expect a decision on whether or not they accepted my petition?

An NO1 is a receipt notice. It's merely an acknowledgment that they have received your petition...they cannot make a decision yet until they have reviewed the entire file.

Seeing as they have cashed your check, you should get your NOA1 very soon...everyone gets an NOA1...unless their petition is returned for being incomplete.

i just checked, they cashed the check the 27th. it still says intial review though on USCIS. is there a reason id get denied a NOA1?

The next step after NOA1 is either an RFE (if you forgot something, or they feel you need to include some additional information), or the NOA2 (approval notice). You may or may not get an RFE. It largely depends on if you left anything out.

Usually, as far as I've heard, the only reasons they would deny the NOA2 is due to not meeting one of the qualifications for the visa:

- Not being free to marry (must be single, or divorced at the time of filing)

- Not having seen each other in person sometime in the last two years

- Petitioner criminal record

If there are others, I'm not sure about them, but these are the main ones I've heard of.

how are you checking the status of the package without the numbers off your NOA1???

People from Vermont have been able to check their online status using the numbers on their acceptance e-mails lately. California doesn't seem to have put anyone from after January 4th into their system, though (at least not K-1s).

All you have to do now is sit back and wait for your NOA1 Hardcopy, it can't be that longer before you get it. For the NOA2 it's going to take, probably, more than 4 months. So don't worry, just enjoy the ride with a lot of patience and love.

I agree with the above posts. I am going on longer than 5 months after receiving my NOA1, and my status still says "Initial Review". If I were you, I would develop a lot of patience really soon because this process is close to 6 months or longer waiting for your NOA2. As far as the NOA1, you should hear something within a week. And if you filed Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application or Petition Acceptance, signing up for an SMS alert, USCIS is rather quick about sending you a text message before you see your NOA1 in the mail. I received my SMS within 2 days. But then again, I sent my I-129F packet through certified U.S. mail with return receipt, so they received it rather quick too.

hi There

I just checked this morning. Similar to you. I mailed mine to texas lockbox but then it was sent to Vermont for processing. The current timeline as listed on the USCIS website is 5 months give or take a week or so. I would suggest that upon the official receipt you will receive from Dept of Homeland Security stating that they received your application (the document you will receive by mail is an I-797C, Notice of Action) you will be provided with a receipt number. If you go to www.uscis.gov you can enter in your receipt number and it will allow you to track your case. Additionally, if you sign up for e-mail notifications and create an account, if there are any updates made to your case you can be notified by txt or e-mail as opposed to waiting for paper notifications by mail. Hope this helps but if you need any additional information, please let me know.

Thanks

To add to the above post, I would strongly suggest everything you send in be sent certified mail with return receipt. Just for your own peace of mind and so that you can ensure your packages are being received.
