Can OCI (Overseas citizen of India) card be applied from India rather than US in case you get your US passport and go back to India on a Indian visa. I am short of time and need to leave in next few months to India and I heard it takes 3-4 months to get OCI? Please suggest?

The OCI work is being outsourced to a private company in the USA as the consulates could not handle the work, and the tracking information provided was useless. Wait for two weeks as most consulates will be using the private company which once you apply will take about three to six months to get the OCI. You will also be able to track your application in real time.

No, you cannot apply in India for the OCI card if you reside in the USA or for that matter anywhere outside India.
