My fiancee and I have a question to raise here. It's a puzzle to us if I could retain my citizenship as a Filipino if I become a US citizen? can I have a dual citizenship? we are thinking of going back to my country to retire so our retirement benefits will go a long way I know it's too early to ask about this question but we would like to know in advance and would it be okay for him to stay in my country with out giving up his citizenship? I appreciate your future response

Certain countries do not accept dual citizenship, so you need to find out if yours does. However, if you still have your passport from your original country, it should not be taken away from you.

The Philippines has a repatriation program so yes, you can keep both citizenships My dad, brother and aunts are all Fil-Am and have both passports

you can go to Philippine Bureau of Immigration and file for dual citizenship. obviously that will be after you become a U.S. citizen.

i'm going through the process as we speak. mind you though, the workers there are lazy or not very smart or both.

for your SO...he may need to consult with the Dept. Of State. because from what i remember, the US does not recognize dual-citizenship for it's citizens...but turns a blind eye on it if the individual decides to get a dual-citizenship from another country...but i stand corrected on that remark.
