From what I understand (I've never gotten an RFE), and someone please correct me if I am wrong, you don't have to use the envelope they provide. You can use a larger full size envelope that will fit m

received RFE today....its so strange because the list of documents they listed which was not enough does not include all docs i sent.

example: submitted 2 year tax forms...but rfe does not mention receiving tax forms...

anyone with experience on this...any help would be greatly appreciated...

rfe date 8/4/11 and uscis.gov case status still shows inital review....

received RFE today....its so strange because the list of documents they listed which was not enough does not include all docs i sent.

example: submitted 2 year tax forms...but rfe does not mention receiving tax forms...

anyone with experience on this...any help would be greatly appreciated...

rfe date 8/4/11 and uscis.gov case status still shows inital review....

Just give them what they want. This time get more documents: Insurance, bills, pictures, mortgage papers, bank statements, you can also add some affidavits from people knowing you and wife... be very generous, do not send 2 documents only. If I were you, I will send more tax returns...

If you marriage is legit... do not have to worry.

Some people are selected randomly.

If not legit; time to look for a super-good lawyer.

mayanksanghavi, did you file your 2010 tax return early enough to include it in the original packet? If not, that's certainly something solid to include. Also, if you sent tax return (1040) printouts first time, try sending transcripts this time. You can order them in a few minutes on the IRS website and they arrive in the mail about a week later so you might want to order them soon if you're going to include them. The 1040s show what you declared, the transcripts show what the IRS decided so they carry a bit more weight than just the print outs.

Other than that, just flood them with paperwork. Every little thing that shows you together, living together, banking together, no matter how insignificant - let them decide whether it's valuable evidence or not. If you're struggling to find stuff you can use, affidavits from friends might be a good idea, especially if you happen to have a friend who knows you both and is a person of standing in the community like a teacher, police officer, doctor, etc...

If your drivers license expired with your original 2-year GC, include a copy of the new license showing the same address as the old one (and that your spouse's is has the same address). If you've switched insurance companies or cell phone contracts or anything like that, include those too. Also, anything that shows you and your spouse as each others' emergency contact or next of kin.

If you simply can't get something that they asked for on the RFE, include a letter (notorised is always good) signed by both of you explaining why you don't have it. That's what we did (in our initial packet) in lieu of including a joint lease/mortgage because my wife has lived in this house and been the mortgagee for over a decade and adding me to it is not financially sensible.

I got my approval letter today in the mail. OHHH finally, the waiting period was horrible especially while going through some marital problems ! Thank you God for this chance to continue living in the United States of America.

*It still shows "pending" online, didn't receive an email or a text even though signed up for both ! :unsure:
