Hey family!

Ok so we are sooooooooooooooooo close to NVC stage (fingers toes eyes crossed anyways) and wondering if anyone can please respond with a simplified list of what is going to happen who has just gone thru this process, step by step, forms needed (we have the DS-230 part 1 signed already waiting to date it), documents needed (originals or certfied copies?). What has to be mailed? What can be emailed? What besides the DS-230 part 1 do I need my husbands signature on so I can have him sign while I am down there? I know there are many lists and posts out there but honestly having the time to search just doesnt happen for me with the kids and work LOL......

I am leaving for jamaica in a week and would like to get Richard's police record while I am there (do you think its too soon?)

I have started photo copying paystubs, bank statements, etc (how far back should I go? I will most likely need my mom to co-sponser so what docs will she need? For the K-1 we did a year of bank account statements and 6 weeks paystubs and employment letter.

I know this question has been asked many times but if someone could reply one last time it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!!! I will assume Sus or Ricardo will be my first repy LOL....you guys rock!

All the documents that you will send to the NVC will be originals/certified and then you should make a copy of the originals or cert. dcks and include it in the package. You will not be able to email any of the documents to the NVC where the Kingston Consulate is concerned since they haven't launched the electronic part for your visa category (ir/cr-1)
I am leaving for jamaica in a week and would like to get Richard's police record while I am there (do you think its too soon?)
IF your case it currently at the NVC stage i would say YES Have Richard Apply for it..! The instruction may say a letter from NVC is required but isn't the case.

I have started photo copying paystubs, bank statements, etc (how far back should I go? I will most likely need my mom to co-sponser so what docs will she need? For the K-1 we did a year of bank account statements and 6 weeks paystubs and employment letter.
Well - bank statements are not required... especially the past ones. IF you do want to include that then the current one would be best. You can go to your bank and they can give you a letter/cert. with your current balance etc if you're using those to meet the income if you are not using it then you should not involve it. You dont have to send in pay stubs. I thought about doing it and had printed stubs going back 6 months ( didnt send it in but thought to take it to the interview). Think - W2s or Tax Return. you can check out this link too ---> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3200.html

thanks for the replies......

so all these things I will have to submit will have to be ORIGINALS???? can I just get certified copies of each of them with exception of police cert? I would prefer to do that so I still have originals to have hubby take to interview. (birth certs, marriage certs, passport pages, etc....certified copy would be having my notary sign copies of my original docs and JOP sign hubbys copies of original docs correct? I would assume, but have learned to NEVER assume LOL.

Thanks!

Please look into this issue of CERTIFIED versus NOTARIZED copies carefully. When NVC says certified copy, this doesnt mean a photocopy that's notarized. It means a copy from the issuing body, not just a photocopy you made and had signed by a notary.

Birth Cert, Marriage cert would have to be originals(or certified copies), passport pages are photocopies and dont need to have it notarized since you'll be taking the original to teh interview anyway.

Hope some more experienced people will come along and explain this certified/notarized thing to you better.

You can send in ALL Certified Copies... no problem! The police certificate must be the original you're correct.

The JOP cannot authenticate your files to make then certified. You must them from the office that issues these records.. if they dont have the originals then they will give you a certified copy with their seal included.
