America, the land of big waistlines and even bigger excuses!

Don't be so snotty here...it's not all about excuses. I have a medical condition that has contributed to my weight, but I don't use it as an excuse to pig out at the table at home or when we eat out. So there.

My husband and I eat at home quite a lot. We shop the sales and shop in bulk when we can. When we cook at home we rarely fix more than we need, unless we plan to have leftovers for lunch the next day. We are conscious of our portions and realize that when we eat out, it's a heck of a lot more than what we fix for ourselves. Yet, we do love certain restaurants and dishes. There are two very good websites that allow you to duplicate your favourite restaurant dish. This is great for us since I am a diabetic...I can adapt a recipe to lower the sugar AND the calories. There are thousands of recipes out there and if you are savvy in the kitchen you can adapt any recipe to fit your lifestyle.

Ah ha, you're diabetic then you know the importance of diet and exercise, as well as maintaining a healthy weight.

Yes I do which is why we watch what we eat...hike...I take my meds and eat at home. I can control what goes in my body AND when I have a craving for my favourite dish, I can usually find a way to duplicate it so that it's ok for me to eat it and not have so many calories.

Are you also familiar with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome? If not, may I suggest you google it...then you might understand why there are some women who are weight challenged because of a medical condition. It pays to educate oneself before spouting off and assuming things that might not apply to all people.

Good looking kids Steven!

Getting your son in marching band should definitely help. Any form of exercise is better than no exercise at all. :)

Thanks, Robert! :D Yep. Although he just called me to tell me his band teacher is putting him in the pit (percussion) so I'm not sure how much marching he'll actually do. :P

I Agree- super cute kiddies!!! And here I thought they might look like wonderwoman,,,,or a dinosaur? Ha, beautiful.

Thanks, Meliss...sorry for derailing this post with their mugshots. :P I'm sure they'd be delighted to know I posted their photo here... but it's payback for all the grief and grey hairs they've given me... :P
