I cut up my cards a long time ago (you can ask Charity to verify  ). Unfortunately, I was unable to survive without them. I had an emergency situation a couple months ago where I was in a car accident and I was almost unable to get a rental car. I decided to order a new copy of one of them, and unfortunately, as I've kept the pieces of all of them, I have still been able to use them (as I have needed to)-a couple times already to pay the rent. Unfortunately, it was either put the rent on the credit cards or be evicted. Now my credit cards are all 3 maxed out again. So I've got the 3 credit cards that I can't seem to get caught up on which make about a $450 a month payment for all 3. I have my car payment which is $265 a month, plus insurance which has also been $265 a month-just last night I did something to help myself and called up Geico which is going to end up lowering that monthly payment only slightly, but it's much better than sticking with my current insurance which would go up after December of this year, because of my accident. My rent is $780 a month. My student loan payment is $55 a month. I cancelled my Internet last month because I realized I couldn't afford it. The only luxury bill I have right now is cable, which runs about $70 a month. I don't really eat out-I don't eat breakfast or lunch, and about half the week I have dinner for free with my parents. They have also recently been paying for my gas. Considering that I make $1,100 every 2 weeks (which isn't a half bad salary), I would say that my situation actually sounds pretty reasonable. I have gone over and over and have realized that there's nothing I can cut out that's going to make any kind of a difference. Just the cable. And I am pursuing a second job-I can work parties on the weekends for $18 an hour. Thanks for the advice, but it's nothing I haven't heard 10,000 times already from my mom and my husband. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it, other than what I already am.

I forgot to add in the 3 phones which are right now running me about $300 a month.

What about your upcoming wedding?? You don't seem very excited about it and admitted it was going to wipe out your savings. Why not wait on that until you can afford it and then make it exactly what you really want?

3 phones? that is the first thing I would cut...i don't know your situation, but start making calls either through skype at an internet cafe or something, limit phone calls, or just instant message....if i would have known this earlier, i would have saved myself thousands upon thousands of dollars in phone bills

Don't seem very excited about it? I'm not sure where you get that idea. I am in constant communication with the wedding planner and my wedding party-we're very much looking forward to it! I've got a ticker tag and everything (even though it's not showing up right now). I'm not actually paying anything for the wedding. My parents are paying for the wedding, and all related expenses, including getting me there. The money Javier has to spend will involve getting himself and his family there, which would happen either now or later. Also, we've already like half paid for the thing, and we're in a contract.

Sorry.

Ok I'm all caught up now. I just remembered a post you had where I thought you weren't and you had said it was going to wipe out all of your savings....

I'm glad you are excited and I know it will be wonderful :) I'm sorry I haven't been on VJ as much lately so I'm trying to keep caught up :)

She's been there and done that, Karo! Melissa's a happily-married woman now :)

Someone needs to empty their PM box, MrsLiss....

:P

I did now! Sorry about that!

As for my 3 phones, I need them. Don't have a home phone, so the only way for Javier and I to communicate (and the cheapest which allows us unlimited talking) is our 2 phones. Unfortunately, that phone wasn't working out well to make general phone calls (family and stuff) so I had to get the other one. It's a far superior system to what I had before when we were getting $1,000 phone bills-some of you probably remember that.

As Ric Flair says "Whooo!" that's enough explaining away my life now.
