Evidently there was a thread about this not too long ago. I really could use the money. I could just about pay off my car with that money. Now I'm starting to think that they won't take them because of my PCOS.

Hey, don't listen to me. I am no expert. If you are serious about this, go find out. It may not be a problem at all!

Furthermore, many women with PCOS have children.

6,000 bucks for something that might have an emotional and moral impact on you for the rest of your life (even if you don't think this will happen, you never know)? i wouldn't risk it, but that's me...you do understand you have to take all kinds of antibiotics and ####### that are bad for you, right? and that I suppose your little kiddos could track you down 18 years later...

save your eggs for a world-wide crisis, if a need to arises to re-populate the planet....otherwise, it would just be contributing to the problem of over-population--think about how much just one kid, one egg, in the US ends up consuming over their lifetime...i suppose that is more of a environmental consideration...good luck with your choice, i used to consider it too (while I was in college) but in the end I couldn't do it because of the reasons above.

And here I was under the impression from ChristinaM that you could get 6 eggs for just 2 cents.

LMAO

I understand that it's supposed to be pretty painful and somewhat traumatic, but if you have a yearning to do it, the least you can do is find out as much as you can beforehand. And heck, I don't know anyone who wouldn't mind an extra $6000....

Make sure you're wearing clean knickers. You never know when you'll be run over by a bus.

I'm certain I would have a personal ethical problem knowing I may have a child somewhere out there that I know nothing about. I wouldn't even consider it if I were at least able to pay all my monthly bills, but as of right now, I owe more monthly than what I make, and the reality is, there's just not that many ways to make a decent amount of money when you really need it. Yes, it will definitely need a lot of serious thought.

Put it this way....if I was in desperate need of the money, I would strip before donating my eggs...lol...there aren't a lot of ways to LEGALLY make fast, easy, money in this world, but consider your options (i'm not saying go strip, lol, i'm partially joking)...but, get creative....I was just illegally fired from my job, and now have to pay for an attorney, so I feel you that money is tight....what am I doing? Getting high-end nanny jobs [$20+ an hour] and working nights if need-be, looking at random jobs on craigslist, etc....I have also offered myself up to do some eco-friendly house-cleaning services and at last resort, get back into the DJ scene in San Francisco (i djed for 8 yrs)....6,000 can be made for sure, and pretty quickly...high-end house-keeping and nannying is one place to start, you can even get part-time temporary jobs.

I don't have a car payment, but I do have a husband who is arriving soon and won't be able to legally work until he gets his greencard--i feel the heat....

If you want to give the gift of life to a couple that is trying to have a baby. do it. My bestfriend has offered this option to me many times.

that is a wonderful- thing.

or you could just find a parent fed up with their kids :P

melissa ...

since i'm not in a sugar-coating mood ... after the extensive psychological tests that a donor is put through, along with the physical, you would probably be found ineligible due to your past/present mental illness.

doing something for a quick, one time payment is a quick fix solution where it sounds like you really need a long term solution here. i know it's not easy, but you will have to set up a budget to determine what sort of income you need every month to survive. that may require getting a second job, not eating out, eliminating extraneous household costs (such as cable, internet, etc). Pay off your credit cards slowly and cut up the cards as they only add to your bottom line debt.

you are young ... if you don't stop living outside of your means now ... you never will. you will always be behind the 8 ball and will have a very hard time catching up. like i said, it WILL be hard at first to alter your lifestyle, but once you do you will feel such a sense of freedom!

best of luck!
