My wife was approved for Naturalization. She became a US citizen before we got married the same month. Her status was still Single when she received her Certificate of Naturalization. I was wondering what are the steps on changing her marital status..

P.S. She needs to change her address too since were moving in together.. How??

SEP 07 2007 - Entered US w/ B2 Visa

NOV 29 2009 - Met my USC wife

OCT 14 2010 - Got married in San Diego

MAR 03 2011 - AOS package sent to USCIS

MAR 07 2011 - AOS package received by USCIS

MAR 29 2011 - Notice date for all forms

APR 01 2011 - NOA1 receipts arrived

APR 04 2011 - Biometrics appt letter arrived

APR 06 2011 - Biometrics walk-in successful

APR 29 2011 - Notice date for I-485 Initial Interview

MAY 04 2011 - Received Initial INTERVIEW LETTER!

MAY 13 2011 - Received EAD/AP card. Applied for SSN

MAY 19 2011 - Social Security card arrived

JUN 07 2011 - AOS INTERVIEW - Approved!!!!

JUN 10 2011 - Card production ordered!!

JUN 15 2011 - GREEN CARD Arrived!! :)

Im confused do you not have to be married for 3 years to apply for citizenship?or is that only for people that have been in America for a few years previous to the marriage?

05/04/11- Hard copy of NOA1 for AOS, EAD, AP
05/12/11- Early Biometric walk in(Scheduled for 05/31/2011)
05/12/11- I-485 Case Transferred to CSC
06/13/11- AOS approved, card production ordered
06/20/11- Green Card Recieved

ROC Timeline

04/25/13- ROC package sent

04/26/13- ROC pack delivered

His wife must have had an alternate path to citizenship (through work, family, etc).

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Your status changed from single to married when you got married. From now on you both will file your taxes as being married, on that's the only change in status as far as Uncle Sam is concerned.

Once you moved in together, she'll stop by at the local DMV and asks for a new driver license that shows her new address. Then she stops by at her bank to update their records, just in case they still mail the account statements. The same needs to be done with credit card bills or any other bills that are being mailed to her old address. None of this has anything to do with citizenship, as anybody who changes their name or moves to a new address needs to do that.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . .
