First off I'm not asking anyone to judge my fiancee, nor am I going to judge anyone's. It's not what this post is about if you know your fiancee isn't a scammer good for you I'm happy for you. In return I know mine isn't a scammer and I know she will be judged throughout our process and throughout our lives I'm sure whether she is or isn't. Just so it's clear I know she isn't and that it is clear this isn't what this post is about.

With that out of the way here is what my post is about......

I know the term "scammer" floats around. I know that I'm not the only one with a long distance relationship with voices in the background saying 'he/she might be a scammer be careful'. Who knows it might be used for local relationships too, highly doubtful as much though.

How would you define the word scammer? What is your opinion about the word scammer?

Personally I define scammer as anyone who uses someone else for their own gain without having any care for the other person. It could be for money, sex, a place to live, etc. I don't think it's limited to just one sex. I think it can be male or female.

With that said I think some people limit it to a person from another country. Being from the US, you can label it any way you want but to me an American woman can do the same thing but yet not be called a scammer?

I have had women from USA use me for money(when I had it) cheat on me, use me for a place to live, etc. People seem to worry about if someone coming from another country is a scammer when people do it here just without a title.

Any thoughts?

Thread moved from the K-1 visa forum as it is not K-1 specific and is general discussion, so I have moved it to the General immigration Related Discussion forum as a more appropriate location.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Scammer someone who uses deceit and deception to achieve personal gain usually to the detriment of others.

This sums it up nicely.
